One of the handsome members of the male pride.

People often think it's sad or unnatural that these males don't have female companions. Yes, they won't provide zoos with more babies - the truth is, their family is so extended it wouldn't be healthy for them to produce babies of their own.

So, they live the good life, as bachelors. No females, no babies, just peace and quiet and brotherhood. And that's actually in their nature too, so don't feel bad for them

Species: African Lion (Afrikaanse leeuw)

Latin name: Panthera Leo

Originates from Africa and West Asia.

Current status: Vulnerable

Did you know:

…It is the second-largest living Cat, after the Tiger, but the tallest – at the shoulder – of all living cats.

…Lions are the only members of the Cat family to display obvious sexual dimorphism, meaning that males and females look distinctly different.

…Lions in captivity tend to be larger than Lions in the wild.
