Pretty sure this is Aslan, the first juvenile Lion we saw at the sanctuary. He is definitely all grown up now!

In case you're curious, this was him in 2013: Guarded - he's the one in the back.

Our camera gear has definitely seen an upgrade too But trust me when I see photography in the inside area is a challenge still.

Species: African Lion (Afrikaanse leeuw)

Latin name: Panthera Leo

Originates from Africa and West Asia.

Current status: Vulnerable

…It is the second-largest living Cat, after the Tiger, but the tallest – at the shoulder – of all living cats.

…Lions are the only members of the Cat family to display obvious sexual dimorphism, meaning that males and females look distinctly different.

…Lions in captivity tend to be larger than Lions in the wild.
