Where: Monde Sauvage Aywaille, Belgium

The Wolves were quite mellow, only just starting to shift around when they noticed the zoo keepers. Things went a little crazy there for a bit

We later learned from some fellow Dutch zoo photographers who visited a week later, that these Wolves had pups who were only a few week old! The little wriggling puppies were out in the open, but we didn't see them during our visit and still can't help but wonder: Where they there back then too?

We'll never know.

Species: Hudson Bay Wolf

Latin name: Canis Lupus Hudsonicus

Originates from Hudson Bay.

Current status: Not evaluated, but considered Endangered

…The Hudson Bay Wolf is often called Tundra Wolf, which is an entirely different subspecies of the Gray Wolf, while they in fact similar to the Mackenzie Valley Wolf, only smaller.

…They have been hunted in the 19th and 20th century for their pelts.

…Their fur ranges from a light gray to a yellowish-white or cream color, but the fur lightens in the Winter.
