Where: Diergaarde Blijdorp Rotterdam, The Netherlands
As the day was winding down, and we made our way to leave the zoo, we made the decision to walk past some of the animals we came to see. The Sumatran Tiger was one of them, but we didn't get a good opportunity to see (and photograph) either of them earlier. As we walked by this late in the afternoon, one of them was still out of view, but the other was making his way inside.
It was just us and 3 kids that were left alone (you have to walk a ways from the main to get to this point of the Tiger enclosure) but we managed to teach the kids quite fast if they wanted to get a good view of the Tiger they had to be really quiet. They loved watching him groom his face like any regular Cat, which was really amazing He wasn't entirely comfy it seemed to go inside with people looking, so he left a few times, but we were ready, prepared and as still and quiet as we could be. Photographing from behind glass with bad lighting on either side, wasn't easy, but I like how it turned out nonetheless

Species: Sumatran Tiger (Sumatraanse Tijger)

Latin name: Panthera Tigris Sumatrae

Originates from Indonesia, Asia.

Current status: Critically Endangered (since 2008)
