We were present for the final stage of this Python's moult. He did it perfectly beautiful - his old skin was probably stuck somewhere so he only had to slide out. When he was almost fully done, he gave us a big yawn

Species: Green Tree Python (Groene boompython)

Latin name: Morelia Viridis syn. Python Viridis syn. Chondropython Azareus

Originates from New Guinea, Indonesia, the Cape York Peninsula and Australia.

Current status: Least Concern

…The Green Tree Python captures its prey by holding on to a tree branch using its prehensile tail and striking out from an S-shape position and constricting its prey – thus it is non-venomous.

…It has different natural color differences that will change with maturity; juveniles may even be yellow or red with distinct markings, changing into green and losing the markings when they mature.

…It has relatively large eyes, and a distinct head thanks to the two humps before the neck, at the backside of the skull due to the well-developed and enlarged jaw muscles.
