The more muscle you want to put on a frame, the more you have to adjust the frame itself. One of the most useful tricks I do is widening the shoulders, giving more room to muscles

That does the trick, but it's also a double-edged sword: how much can you alter the shape?
For example, I don't like drawings where the arms length is obviously stretched just to draw a bigger bicep (often with forearms remaining βnormalβ).

I don't like stretching limbs (well, legs can be stretched if one is aiming for the really tall look), but making the shoulders wider shouldn't mess up the proportions
