Description
Here we go then!As you can see, I don't really do an enormous amount of . . . working out, before I start working on something like this (though there were a couple of adjustments to the sketch at the start that aren't captured here, need to remember to save a bit more at the very beginning); I had a pretty good idea of where I wanted them to go and just got stuck right into it.
Done in PS CS4, using pretty much entirely a square brush that can be found here .
The final is up here -
Enjoy!
(it's a fairly big file, so might take a while to load - be patient!)

All these gifs are so cool to look at. How much planning do you do beforehand? Like thumbnails, color or value sketches... Picking the right values is still the biggest problem for me. Any advice ?
Hopefully I can do some WoW stuff soon too. ^^

Ahhh... you use transparenty colors at the beginning to get the atmosphere but then you use completely saturated colors for the subjects >_< It looks so good even though I can't do that yett...

Could you please tell me how you record this .GIF file when you save? Sometimes I forget how I draw things, and that makes me frustrated, so it would be nice to have that reference.

ok, this explains the process a little better. I am still not 100% how you get such fine looking shading from the very beginning, but I guess practice will tell. thanks for sharing this!!!!!!!!!!!

I rather hate you kind sir. This drawing causes both inspiration, and envy-ness that Id rather put it on paper to express it.
In other words: BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

Do you use the square brush with angle set to pen direction? If so, how do you stop it spazzing out from the slightest directional change?

Yep; um... I don't really have an issue with that happening; occasionally I get stars at corners where I linger too long but it's easy enough to clean up a bit afterwards.

No worries, I seem to have fixed it by changing the 'roundness' of the brush to about 40%

I have photoshop set up to save a snapshot every time I save, and then when I'm done I go back through them and screenshot them all, then bring them all into one new doc as separate layers and use the animation palette in PS to turn it into a GIF
(only works while the document is open though, so have to do it in one sitting / save them out before I close it as I go)
