Description
One of three prints I did for my photo class this term. The assigned theme was "windows", so I ran out into the pond and woods near campus and shot "windows of nature"; stuff framed so that it would show a window of sorts. This is my favorite of the three though. I was so surprised to be hiking out there and find this decrepit old sofa just sitting in the middle of a dried out puddle. The creek isn't too far from there and in fact if you went past the tree"frame", you'd be walking right into it. The pond nearby though, is man-made, initially just a hole that the city dug dirt out of. It eventually filled with rainwater and became a dumping ground. It was passed between the state and the university for literally pennies on the dollar, and eventually became a park. When they drained the pond a few years ago, they found an old car among the crap. I think this sofa may be from those dumping days - it was only in the past few years did they decide to embark on this endeavor.
Now there are snapping turtles, eastern softshell turtles, and common map turtles with the koi, bluegill, and blue herons that live there with the most diverse butterfly population I've seen in the wild ever.
... and too many words for a picture of a junked sofa in the woods |D

Thanks Wind! I love how untouched the place is, outside of this obvious piece of the past |D

Aw man, this one is really cool.
Ya got that great, thick brush and then "oh hey ima sofa". Aaaahhh and the sofa's all torn up so you can see inside and have that nice black in there.

I love this picture so much~ There's some sort of mystique about all that woods then: random sofa. I love the contrasts of this pic~
