Description
I thought this sheet may help people when designing MYOs and offsprings from their own breedings!
Since wieslis are an arpg species where it is rather easy to make MYOs and breed with their breedable wiesli characters, an option should be there which helps you to understand the shape and ranges and possibilities of the main markings of this species because most people who ever started to design them, made some major mistakes on where the markings should be and which markings must be there on every wiesli.
The minimum to maximum range shows you which markings always must be there.
Main markings are already explained on this gender sheet:
Sadly people still made mistakes because they didn´t seem to see that the shown main markings always must be present.
They make the character to what it is and not being a random wolf or coyote.
Wieslis and Waslis show slightly different face markings, when you compare them to Wuslis and Wuselines.
On this way, even a fat wiesli or wasli cannot be mistaken with a wusli or wuseline!
Base coat is the ground color (sheet shows this in grey)
The main body is toned with the base coat. Wieslis have different breed forms and there various base coats are possible.
(please view the different wiesli breeds for more infos)
The Wiesli breeds Dictionary
Main or basic markings are essential markings ALL wieslis have! They are always placed at the same area and there are some areas where they CAN appear but do not have to. On other areas they NEVER appear. The areas shown above in the sheet are areas where they may appear depending on extensions, but they definitely always appear in their minimum form always!
(sheet shows them in white)
All wieslis, no matter the breed form HAVE these markings.
The color tone is mostly lighter than the base coat, BUT it also can be darker. It usually always have a similar tone like the basecoat (the tone doesn´t really matter but it should look harmonically and sensemaking).
The only other way to make the basic markings unnaturally colored are the use of color conch or wicked dye.
Multiple tones on basic markings are allowed. For example can you make a part of the main markings white and the other parts a light brown.
Basic markings are always hard edged to semi-hardedged but never blurred!
Other blurry markings of a similar or other tones/colors can flow into them and partly melt with them. But this is optional.
All in all, the basic markings must always be clearly visible on the base coat.
The shapes are often simple or a bit fuzzy looking depending on how short or long the fur of the character is. But also various shapes like flames, swirls, dots are possible.
Mutations are genes, which influence the basic markings. They can overlap them and won´t let them show through on some places.
Some mutations even express the main markings in their own way because they only come to show where the main markings usually appear.
Pinto is a white gene mutation where the main markings are always white and extend on several places on the body. It for example can make the whole neck white like on a border collie. It can make bigger white tail tips. It often looks like a mild form of piebald because it never appears in a lot of white.
The white doesn´t cover more than half of the body.
The white can basically go everywhere. The only place which is not effected by this gene is the lower jaw on wieslis which never appears white and the throat of a wusli which also is never marked with main markings.
How to draw - you draw the base coat color first. Then you do the white main markings and easily extend them into random places where you think they should go.
Piebald is an often seen mutation on all animals. Even humans can have it.
It can show in a minimum to a maximum range. On this mutation, the main body is white. There are just some patches of base coat color and main markings showing. The patches have dedicated places. In the minimum range, the patches only show in the shown places. Other places which hide the main markings are not allowed!
How to draw - start with the base coat color, draw the main markings and possible other markings and then make a new layer with white and erase the white where you want to have the patches come to show.
Minimum: body shows a lot of white and only a few minimum of patches
Maximum: body shows much white but many big random appearing patches
The name "Peadot" is an own creation of a type of piebald gene and comes from small pea-like dots. The smaller and larger dots are always clustered at one spot and slightly flow into the mainly white body. The dots have the color of the base coat and main markings which show through under the white.
You draw this like you draw piebald.
Minimum: body mainly is white and only shows small dots at the places shown (nowhere else!)
Maximum: body is still mainly white but other places can also be colored with the dots. (only at the shown places)
All white mutations can only be obtained by breeding with a wiesli which HAS this mutation. Thought this mutation is NOT listed on the masterlist.
You can see on the image, if the character has this mutation because they are really segnificant and visible. They look a lot different to other normal main markings because they interrupt the basic colors so much.
Breeding a common wiesli with pinto and a common wasli, gives you the option to give the father's mutation to your designed offsprings.
Tailtips are always marked, unless the tail is NOT made of fur (ocean wieslis, falcon wieslis, food related wieslis, fan tailed wieslis...)
The tail tip marking can be lighter or darker than the base coat. Often it is nearly black or very dark brown.
In a few cases it also appears to be white.
It also often gets dyed with items to have it standing out.
It can be hard edged or blurred marked.
Are the ranges on the sheet strict?
No, actually you do not have to have markings on your own characters in the same milimeter range!
As long as your markings come close to the examples shown on this sheet, you are fine. If it visibly goes out of the shown range a lot, is missplaced, you will be asked for a correction before approval. As long as the main markings do show in the shown body parts, it doesn´t matter how they are shaped or drawn.

Pinto is a mutation form and as stated, you can get a mutation only in breeding or when you get a pre-made character with this mutation.
The whole text you find under "how to get the mutations?" there it is all explained.

The ones which are fat are called wusli/wuseline. They are a handicapped form which always appears to be fat. Their markings differ slightly from the healthy wiesli/wasli form.
You can read more about the fact of why they are fat and what else makes them handicapped here:
