Description
Rhumba, or the Realistic Humanoid Ultra-Machine Battle Android, is a product of relatively early Mecha design. After the secession of the Castaways Treaty Systems, the Golden Alliance began to rely on Androids to face down their next threat, but as history tells, that backfired on them as well. Artificial Intelligences are known through the galaxy to develop into full-fledged sentience once they pass a certain threshold, so scientists designed them with limiters that kept their learning capabilities just below that amount of data processing. Deviling programmers spread a "virus" that essentially overclocked the AIs in most mecha, removing their limiters and giving them true sentience. With this in mind, the brilliant Dark Elf scientist Dr. Thaddeus Daybreak developed a robot that would take full advantage of sentience. Ostensibly, he had been hired to create a robot that could hunt down "Rogue" mecha, able to adapt their weapons systems to her own body, but when the Doctor presented his prototype to the GA military, they turned her down and demanded a redesign. He repeated this process a few more times before giving them the menacing, giant combat robot that he knew they'd wanted in the first place, his plan to be able to design what he wanted first while fully funded by the military successful.
The deviling aggression eventually made its way towards the area of the Golden Alliance where the Doctor was stationed, and the GA military council decided that they would use his talents again to help fight off the pirates. However, his escort ship was captured by Galactic ANarchist forces, leaving his creations alone in his lab growing increasingly worried over his disappearance. It was Rhumba among his android prototypes that first set off after him, but with little to go off, her plan was to defeat, disarm, and interrogate GAN mecha until she found out where her creator had been taken. After a few successes, she finally met her match against an enemy robot and was defeated. A signal burst containing her final thought imprints were sent back to the laboratory, but thanks to another incident, it had vanished, and her signal had nowhere to go. As is often the case in this sort of hopeless situation, her essence found itself reawakened at MSF High, this time within an arcade machine.
Rhumba can communicate with anyone who is playing the advanced virtual reality game in which she is trapped, and can even assist them though the game, but as of yet no one has the skill to beat the final level, which will cause the game to grant the player a memory crystal containing rhumba's AI and the blueprints for her body. Once a worthy gamer comes along to free her and construct her new body, she will gladly assist them as she takes up her rightful place as a student at MSF High, and someday she hopes that whoever her new partner is, they will be able to graduate together and resume the search for her missing creator.
