This is half, Halloween art and half me making up explanations for why everyone is the way they are now. This series makes me sad as of late. Shadow is the only reason why I'm still attached to it and at least Blaze isn't used as much so she's safe.

So what happened was pretty much that EVERYONE DIED. (Really nice original idea am I right?) Because he went too long without blood because SEGA did not like him anymore, Shadow attacked the characters in the time between Sonic and The Black Knight and Sonic Colors, so now they're all ghouls that have lost most of their personality/ Shadow has warped it. Shadow controls the undead Sonic cast like his puppets whenever there is a game because if they got rid of Shadow then all of the other characters wouldn't be able to do anything.

And Shadow is just a grumpy old man.
