Description
"My mind has touched the farthest horizons of mortal imagination and reaches ever outward to embrace infinity. There is no knowledge beyond my comprehension, no art or skill upon this entire planet that lies beyond the mastery of my hand. And yet, like Faust, I look in vain, I learn in vain...For as long as I live, no woman will ever look on me in love. Now at last I have found the courage to turn away from the foolish echoes of human gladness. Optimism, blind hope, pathetic yearnings...I have let them all go, one by one, and I am as content as I shall ever be on this earth, in my peaceful solitude.
My kingdom lies in eternal darkness, many feet below the level of the Parisian streets outside, shrouded in the chill silence of the grave. Darkness and silence have been my companions since the day I chose to turn my back upon the world of men and create an empire that was solely mine.
From the moment of my birth my destiny was to be alone.
But it took me more than forty years to accept that harsh and unrelenting fact--to understand where peace and resignation lay..."
~Erik, Susan Kay's Phantom, p.261

WHY DO I LOVE HIM.
WHY.
he's supposed to disgust me.
instead I love how he looks.
the only thing that could mke me not love how he looks would be if he was bald.
no offence, but i do not like bald guys.
XD

I do, too, trust me. I do, too.
I really do believe that one can find beauty in the grotesque, so whenever I draw Erik, I try to show the twisted sort of beauty he possesses. I always imagined him perpetually elegant and almost regal, despite his...um...significant lack of nose.

Oh, your art is always so beautiful... You draw Erik maskless, his deformaties completly uncovered and yet there is beauty in what would normally be considered total ugliness...

Thank you so much! I do believe that beauty can be found in things that are considered "ugly," so I try to communicate that whenever I draw Erik. I think attractiveness goes beyond looks--many people aren't what you'd call conventionally beautiful, but they have that certain something, a charisma that makes them hard to forget. That's Erik, I think.

The beauty that is found in ugliness is the grandest of all is something I've been taught to live by.

Erik's yellow eyes. ♥ They're always so enthralling, and they stand out beautifully in this.
For whatever reason, the slope of his shoulders makes him look slightly disgruntled, like "Hello, yes, please stop drawing me; nobody would hang any rendition of me on their wall unless they were blind."
But at the same time, there's such expressiveness in his face. Or, rather, you get the feeling that there's so much behind the carefully stoic expression.
And, erm, your handwriting is lovely. The variation of light/dark words in the background is really nice.
You should really take up portraiture as a part-time job or something. I swear.
