Description I recently ordered a few of my models from Shapeways and well, here they are!

I am pleased with their service and how efficient they are. The material used above (white, strong and flexible polished) is sturdy and the details show up pretty well even at such a small scale. The price is a bit high for these models, but I can't really control that.

As shown I ordered a futuristic APC, a mech, and a truck, all of which are my designs made from Sketchup. These are somewhat to scale with 6mm wargaming. With my winter break starting, I plan to make some more vehicles and upload them. I got one in the works right now; hopefully it'll be done and on Shapeways by the end of the week.

More of my designs can be seen here in my shop:

I need them because I enjoy collecting miniatures, especially those from 6mm  wargames. When I found out I can have my own designs printed, I figured it would be great if I can have a collection of my own vehicles!

I did some investigating and found you could probably cut your manufacturing costs maybe by half on the truck and APC. Not sure if you could cut costs on the robot...

I just figured whatever cost you can save, will translate to a lower cost to the buyer which would make your items sell, more...

Nice information you found! However, as for the APC and Truck, I don't think I can reduce the cost any further besides scaling them down some more. I did employ tactics to reduce the cost, such as making them hollow, essentially a shell of itself for both the APC and truck, along with my other designs on Shapeways.

well, what it you eliminated the bottom altogether? I mean who will be short enough to see under the APC when it's on all six wheels? ...or is that the way you hollowed it out?

Apparently it's all information you knew, but it wasn't meant to be addressed to you alone. I also didn't want to be an advertisement. If someone asks, I'll mention shapeways, but otherwise...

That's exactly what I did; the bottom is completely gone.

6mm?! That's pretty good detail at that scale. I've been toying with the idea of sending some of my stuff out to get printed.  Just curious, but how much did one of those run you?

PM me if you'd rather not say publicly.

I don't mind saying my prices publicly; after all, I did give a link to my shop above with the prices of all of my designs so far. For convenient's sake, from top to bottom: APC : $10.00

                                                                          Mech: $7.70

                                                                          Truck: $11.00

All in all, it may seem expensive for something that's less than 2 inches in length (for the APC and Truck, that is). However, the material is quite sturdy and like you said, the details are quite nice for being at this scale.

Just to butt in, you can get costing on your models at the linked website he provided. "strong, white, flexible" plastic costs $1.40 per cubic centimeter. just check the volume on your model, then multiply...

Multihawk also sells his stuff that he has had fabricated there, so you can get an idea how much he paid...
