Wait...you're in Australia...isn't it illegal to import non-native snakes like this, or were you in South Africa at the time? It would be a real shame if this had been released in Australia, given the both the similarities in climates between much of Australia and much of South Africa, and worse, knowing the fate of this snake, who didn't ask to be in that position. I've seen some really sweet Python sebaes here in the US, in captivity, and this one is nicer-looking that most, so it would be sad to lose that genetic potential, but at the same time, it's a species which very easily could establish itself in Australia and out-compete your native Carpets and Scrubs and Olives.

yeah im in aus but all the photos i have been posting were taken before i left... as it says in the description, we found it under a bed at the house in Zimbabwe...

Well, that is a relief. I know in Australia any non-native snakes that are found are killed.

yeah it is such a fragile ecosystem and there are already so many invader species...

also, would have a very hard time sneaking animals into australia even if i wanted too... the aussie border control are rabid about that sort of thing with, as you point out, very good reason...
