I don't think I've ever elaborated on how exactly Samael met/adopted Alejandro. Seeing how Alejandro isn't any where near as old as everyone else it's a fairly recent event. It takes place while Cameron is still 'missing' and Samael is searching/wallowing and trying to kept everything a float without his Queen. He basically tells all the other demons to handle their own lives while he searches BUT one family of lycans in particular are in dire straits. They've been hunted to near extinction simply because they are werewolves. Something each member of the family is born in to. Anyway, Alejandro's grandfather (and wee pup Al) are the only ones left by the time Samael gets around to helping them. He helps dispatch the hunters but in the battle the grandfather is gravely injured and doesn't make it. Samael promises to take care Alejandro and keep him safe - thus he sees that he can not shirk his duties as King (or a father) any longer. He puts his search for Cameron off for a few years while he strengthens the demon kingdom and raises his boys.

Working more on Alejandro's blindness - it's progressively degenerative. Basically meaning Al wasn't always blind but as he ages it's getting worse. I'd say he's about five years old here and can still see. He doesn't start to lose his sight until around 13 years old. Funny enough that's when he starts transforming. And I've decided that he can see when in his lycan form. Just takes him a while to have his full mind.

These two are so freakin adorable together. There's just something about that 'derpy, dad, vamp' trope that I love for Samael. The juxtaposition of this seemingly blood thirsty demon raising/adopting little orphan demons - it's just so sweet. And who wouldn't want to adopt Alejendro - just look at that face.
