I seriously cant say enough how...irritating...shading something that is white. I mean,
everything says dont shade with gray because its flat looking. Shade with a slight different
hue. But...ugh. x.x
So, yeah. I hate shading white. Thats why Ive never drawn Rarity before I guess.

I like your design and very nice indeed
but there one thing that I did not understand you did the horn so?
n the way you did it well, but you had to put a little more curved
in addition to this and all perfect coloring design and did very well
how did the lights and all the parties scute perfect
except the horn and the nose a little but then those are personal tastes
the most beautiful part of the design to me is the hair are made well

As far as the horn goes, Ive found that it seems to go back and forth regarding people enjoying the more curved look of the spirals, and the straight. I originally did curved on the Twilight Headshot I did a little ago, and decided for this piece I'd go with the more straight. I kinda think Rarity would be the one to make sure her horn looked absolutely perfect, so I went with that aspect. But, I do agree with you, I do like the curved look more, and will more than likely go back to that.
I also do think I got her nose a "little" too big for what I see as a dainty character, but after the sketch was "done" I didnt want to have to go back and re-do it simply because I already liked the outcome. Specially with her hair, that took me forever, heh.

I fall into the trap of using grey as a shade for white too. I wasn't even aware it was a problem until today.

I have a really bad habit of wanting to use gray to shade for white, only because it normally still keeps the "white" look, but....yeah. Everything else Ive read about as fat as art goes totally goes against using gray as a shader for white. Something about how white easily soaks up color from its surrounding coloring so it wouldnt "normally" look gray when surrounded by other colors unless that surrounded color were black or grey or something to that effect.

I did have some issues getting it to look how I wanted, and it did come out a bit long, but afterwards I didnt want to change it up too much.
