I am eighteenyears old on a friday
night
in new york city
reading bukowski. I cried
a little, earlier,
trying to jump on
the words who
wanted to be left
alone, like
a girl
on friday night.
so I lay down
on my bed
with the old
man's new
book
and now I'm all
weepy again
because he writes
about good people
with cat's souls.
I know
exactly what
he's talking
about, and
my cat's all
the way back in
virginia.

as someone who got wasted the normal way on their 18th - your way is a lot better. I know how you feel when you say you feel old. Life's precious and almost twenty years of mine is gone. it's a sad feeling.

every new year is like a miracle to me, as if I can hardly believe I am continuing to get older. I think it's because the definition of years scarcely seem to matter: some people live for years within a single day, others, the opposite.
that said, perhaps feeling old when young is a good thing; it merely means that we have been living consciously.
