This is my submission for the Radical Racer OC Challenge. So, meet Memphis. He is a 25-year old guy who races on a Multiterra board. This board is built for all-terrain travel, from air to storms to deserts. The laser-grid sails make for quick maneuvers by cutting through currents 100 times faster than the older models which used solid nanofibre sails. For his special trick, he carries what looks like an ordinary plasma blaster. However, much to his opponents' surprise, this blaster launches spheres made up of microbolts of electomagnetic energy into air, causing rifts in the space-time dimensional veil, essentially creating a portal that allows him to jump a few metres ahead. While the jump won't take him from one side of the world to another, used strategically, the jump helps him avoid catastrophes or take the lead on his opponents. For his lucky charm, he wears his grandfather's old aviators. They were a keepsake from the Chaosmos War, during which his grandfather flew for the Republic. Memphis spent much of his childhood lying on the carpet in his grandfather's study, listening to his war stories and dreaming he was flying with him. During those times, it was the happiest he ever felt. Now, as he rides his Multiterra board, he feels as though a part of those dreams have realised.
