Description
TW: Anyone that can not take any sort of gore/wound/blood content should not look at this deviation. If you have dealt with self harm I also advice you not to look at this deviation.
In the end you make your own decisions.
-------------------------
I notice that people tend to draw wounds and scratches bleeding very heavily (and this could happen, sure.. but most of the time other stuff happens! : D)
Wounds are as varied as humans, and so is skin colour. don't be afraid to mix around with other colours.
There is a lot of browns and reds in wounds. (Green and yellow if a wound get's infected)
It's important to remember that a colour never consists of just that colour. It will always be a mixture of different hue's and saturation.
If you're not sure which colours you should use just try some out, you will see if it does not work and you can just press ctrl z. Just try until you're pleased.
Everything is drawn in 'mypaint' which is a free program that takes only a minute to install.

Why would you make a picture giving tutorials for innocent kids to cut themselves... that's just so wrong...

It's not exactly a tutorial for cutting yourself. I'm not giving away any tips on that, am I?
It's a tutorial for how to draw accurate cuts on drawings and paintings.
There is often a lot of inaccurate portrayals of them.
Though I see why one would find this picture to be offensive. It's gore after all.
I would never encourage people to hurt themselves.
This is for artwork purposes only.

Am I the only person who connect this to something more than just cuts? Kind of psychological thing... being hurt, keeping emotions inside... or maybe I'm just tired.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. This is a tutorial, it gives examples of what cuts look like and how blood comes out of wounds.
I don't see how the tutorial could have a deeper meaning, since it's really just a tutorial (':
With works of art I know interpretation can be endless, but since this is made with the intention to teach and show other people something.. I don't really see how it could be interpreted as a personal piece. Nevertheless I'm curious to hear your views on it. I wonder how you managed to interpret it like that.

Huhu I know that's just a tutorial I'm not kind of person which interpret everything. Maybe I have too much lessons where I have to do this... ^^
But... Here's my... "interpretation"
-picture 1. and 2. - little problems are not very importent, but when there are more of them, they are becoming so.
-picture 3. - "They wont leave the wound" - bigger worries, but nobody sees that sth's wrong.
-pcture 4. - Sth more serious may hurt us more, but still nobody knows ths, until we talk to someone.
-picture 5. - wrrrr I can't interpret this xD Maybe... we hurt somebody who hurts us
-picture 6. - when we do nothing about our worries, they grow and grow and we're becoimg... withdrawn (i don't know if it's a good word xD ) time helps and we do not care as much as earlier, but if we try to definitely chase away our worries, we have to 'remove the drops" It should help, but it's painful.
-picture 7. - too many worries gather and we are sooooo unhappy
-picture 8, 9, 10, 11. - it's ok now, but 'something' remained
-picture 12. - it all belongs to past, nobody cares, we're the only people who remebered. We keep it inside, but's not painful anymore.
I hope you don't think I'm mad xD When I've firstly see this art, I wasn't sure if it's just a tutorial, or maybe 'sth more', but, here's my explanation C:
btw. very nice art, it looks very... realistic, good work and... sorry for my english xD

that was actually very interesting to read. I can understand how it has meaning now.
I hadn't looked at it like that, but yes it could also be seen as a story. Thanks for sharing.

Could you please put a mature content warning on? A TW isn't particularly useful if you only see it when you're on the deviation.

N-B-R-artwork In reply to krynn-inactive [2014-02-22 12:46:29 +0000 UTC]
I've considered doing that,
but I wonder if someone can come in contact with this deviation in such a way that it is triggering.
The title clearly says that there will be cuts in the deviation so I just wonder if a warning is really needed.
Most people will only see the thumbnail which is very small and you will only see the first three panels that do not show something that I would personally consider triggering.
Don't get me wrong, I mostly am pro-trigger warnings. (but mostly on sites such as tumblr where you scroll down and do not know what you will see)
and I applythem to my artwork, but considering this is a tutorial specifically targeted at the triggering content itself, and it is not hidden within artwork.
This deviation is only tagged with things that are triggering, so someone that would find this will have been looking for it.
I think that for a tutorial it is important that people can see what kind of tutorial they will get.
Is there a reason why you think a trigger warning should really be applied? for example, have you come across the deviation without having searched for it?
I understand that the warning in the description is quite useless indeed, I will put it more clearly in the title.

I did indeed see the deviation without having specifically searched for it. Personally, I find the very first panel to be the most triggering, but of course, it's up to your discretion.

I feel like you're misunderstanding the word "trigger" with "grossed out" or "kinda uncomfortable but didn't really impact my day"

. . . you do realize how old my comment was, right?
Secondly, you don't really know my background. At the time I wrote that comment, I was dealing with self-harm and seeing images like this would make me want to self-harm.

Hmm, then I am sorry you have found it triggering.
I think in this case it should be as with a lot of other circumstances, just move on from it as quickly as possible and try not to focus on the image. I know how difficult it is to be triggered by something, but at the same time we should try to learn how to cope with those moments we are triggered.

But I guess you got a lot of painkillers?
thanks. (:
