Description
After having the original version of this as my Featured Deviation for ages, the problems with it finally got to me badly enough I felt compelled to completely redraw it.I fixed the anatomy.
I shaded it more precisely.
It was rendered at approximately 8"x10", which is easily four times the size of the original.
I also estimate I've got some 20+ hours of my life in this damn thing, and I am firmly reminded why I never work this big. Augh.
Anyhow, I'll be removing the old one eventually, so those of you that have the old one +fav'ed, be aware it's going to be vanishing.
For those that didn't see the old one, this is a hypothetical image of the Fayth-statue of Yuna's Final Aeon... Leviathan. Yes, it's Tidus, of course. Just a thought of what had happened if things had gone differently. Or rather... if things had gone exactly the same as before.

Say, if this scenario actually went through instead of the fight of Yunalesca... would Tidus be still be able to uphold his word about finding another way? That would mean Tidus would have to fight Sin... Without letting Yu Yevon get close to him. Either that, or destroy Yu Yevon before corruption could take place.

That's a cool scenario. If anyone could pull it off, it'd be Tidus. But what about Yuna having to die after summoning him?

If I remember FFX right, doesn't the summoner die after Yu Yevon seizes control of the Final Aeon?

Not sure... i assumed that the summoner's life force was drained when they performed the Final Summoning, and that they died once their Aeon defeated Sin. I like your idea better: leaves more of a chance that Aeon/badass Tidus doesn't kill Yuna.ย
So then... I guess Final Fantasy X-2 would be all about finding a way to change Tidus back?

Actually, fact-checking shows that after Yu Yevon takes over the Final Aeon, the summoner then dies. So, if Yu Yevon was destroyed before it could possess Tidus... Yuna wouldn't be dead.

Oh? Well, great then. That still leaves room for X-2 to be about changing Tidus back... although that's assuming he doesn't fade when all the Fayths stop dreaming, which is a bit of a leap.

Well, Tidus is merely a dream of the Fayth... but remember when Tidus faded away in the original game, after Yu Yevon's defeat? Yeah, he was more or less seen at the Farplane. So, maybe the Good Ending of X-2 could still happen...? You know, the Fayth somehow made Tidus from a dream to a real human being?

I just wondered if he'd fade away in the first place, since he himself would now be a Fayth, and he might keep dreaming so that Yuna could still call on him while looking for a way to change him back.

So, what you're saying is, "Being a Fayth could save Tidus from being a mere dream..." and yeah, I do imagine him to follow Yuna and the Gullwings around from time to time. I'll have to come up with the good ending's scenario for this.

ok, i can't really understand what the problem is, but i feel something really wrong about anatomy (you fixed it??)
torso and head look right, being the front part (isn't it?)
but from the elbows to the hands the arms looks like the whole body is seen from behind (especially the 'nude' arm, where i see the pointy part of the elbow). if he is twisting his arms, getting to show thepointy part of the elbow, the wrong part are the hands. use lil' reference.
i know i could be wrong, but i can't see how this could be. maybe tidus in this version (i'm not a big ff player) has twisted arms?? really don't know.

You can twist your hands so that the back part is on the same side as the elbow. It's just a little uncomfortable.
There's nothing wrong with the anatomy. In FFX, the fayth statues (this picture) are supposed to be viewed from behind. So no, the front part of the torso isn't being seen here. It's from behind.

I cant get over how awesome this is! This makes me tense up at the thought of how this could have been animated. Im so glad people like you exist in our world, I just wish I had the talent to do it myself. What I lack (horribly) in art I try to make up with writing. A picture is a 1000 words? I think it's really quite brilliant. Call me a fanboy though, I think he would be a better summon than Leviathan. I dunno. (To be fair, I've only used FFVII era Leviathan, which isn't terribly epic). Not that I'd argue. It's still a fantastic design.

I come late to the party and add my worship and awe to this piece, and to much of your fanart. You have such a grasp of FF and Spiran design, in all its beauty and (occasional) silliness!
You seldom draw women, and it's been a long time since you were heavily into FFX, but oh, I would SO love to see what you would do with Lulu as a Final Aeon. You do so much with detail, and while most folks focused on her ridiculous pair of balloons, the costume on that character suggests detail, detail, and scary detail.
