Will it really?Finally some Discord. I've been meaning to draw him for a while.
It's been a long time. About three weeks, to be precise. A couple of you may notice that the sketch of this was in my last sketch dump . In short, I've become busier than I'd like in that time, and pretty much all the time I used to draw in is now allocated to other things. Almost perfectly coinciding with that, I now have over 1k watchers!
Thanks for the interest, and I hope I can find the energy to keep doing this.Thanks again to verrmont who critiqued this piece twice in it's lifetime, once with video!

Discord is my 4th or 5th favorite character (reason is I cant decide which is my favorite, as so many of them are awesome). I cant get over the fact that Celestia's slippers look as if they are actually 3-dementional objects with light shining on them to cast that perfect shadow. excellent work

Celestia: Hmm. Interesting. Interesting indeed.
D: I knew you would be-
C: Not so fast. I never said I would.
D: Huh?
C: Two Celestias? Two entities controlling the sun at the same time? It would be catastrophic.
D: Well.... yeah. But, you'll just have to make sure only one of you is doing it and-
C: No. This is just folly. I can't deny that I would love to have free time and someone who could help me with my duties. But my sister fill the task perfectly.
D: Luna? Pfff! She can't even raise the sun!
C: Who told you that? She did raised the sun once. Even twice. Well, with difficulty.... and with a bit of help....
D: In short she can't raise it by herself.
C: Don't try to change the subject! *sigh* I better get rid of this mirror pond before something truly horrible happens.
D: And what exactly?
C: Two of you.
D: *gasp* What a splendid idea! Double of Discord! Double of Chaos! No... triple..... quadruple... what about ten- *flash*
Celestia's horn kept glowing after she teleported him far away.
C: Phew! That was close. Better hurry up now.
She looked again at her reflection with a grin.
C: *shook her head* No no no.Β Very tempting, but... Ugh! I... *deep sigh* L-let's get rid of this before I change my mind....

Celestia cloning herself? Interesting.
THough it raise a uestion. How much of original powers is being copied?(I often saw in many animes that quanity < quality (high number of soldiers are defeated way more easy than few.)
What if Twilight after taking power of 4 alicorns would copy herself with mirror pull and went after Tirek.
Tirek was lossing fight against one foe, few Twilight's would destroy him alongside half of the planet. Or even better. Tirek can capture one alicorn, take to mirror pull, make copy, absolrb power of the clone and repeat the process. Unlimited source of magic.
I think that the ammount of magic the clones can have must be limited, or else mirror pull would be way to OP.

Honestly, I think that if the writers cared about how "overpowered" their artifacts might be, they wouldn't have written Too Many Pinkie Pies at all. Or, y'know, Friendship is Magic Pt. 2, any of the season finales; you get the idea. There's nothing to suggest that the mirror pool doesn't make a fully functional copy of whoever uses it.
It is interesting to note, however, that while the duplicate Pinkies appeared to inherit the original's personality and abilities, they did not seem to receive a complete copy of her memories, as evidenced by them not knowing her friend's names, so there is some basis for the idea that the pool doesn't create a perfect copies, though it is somewhat unclear what exactly is lost.
This isn't a direction I expected discussion of this piece to go in.

Actually if too many pinkie pies is anything to go on, it does not seem to particularly reduce raw ability, but skill seems liable to be severely hampered.

Well, from what we saw in Tirek's episode, he don't gain skills, only raw power, so Mirror Poll would be an ultimate source of power to him.
Twilight copying herself with magic of four alicorns would kill Tirek and half the plannet, and do I need to mention what many Celestia's would do?
The worst that could happen would be them playing with the sun and the moon. Makes me wonder why Discord not cloned himself.

Yeah, there have been some amusing fan fics that explored the idea that the mirror pool was actually made by discord as a backup device in case anyone ever corrupted him.
Makes about as much sense as anything.
