Interesting image. It's almost monochrome. Not sure about the soft focus, but it's interesting. What happens if you shoot the image again, but against a curtain backdrop or background where you can shoot the entire figure without baseboards or other distractions?

Thanks for the tips / ideas!

I was just trying different places & lighting conditions.... and the light wasn't quite adequate. (not to mention I'm using a $100.00 point & shoot, plain ol' digital camera lol!)

But the pose turned out OK, & the shine from the oil added just a touch of spark to an otherwise ordinary pic.

So I ran a couple filters to soften the grain from bad lighting.... and that's how I ended up with this.

I DO like the idea of a backdrop of some sort! I'll have find a place with enough open room to work with; I just have too much "stuff" around the house though.. hahaha!

Either that, or I'll have to hook up with another photographer again, who has the equipment to get better quality shots.

Thanks again for the comments!!!

Hey, experimenting is what it's all about. And if you're also the model, you can take advantage of more spontaneous opportunities.

You're right about the oil adding a spark to this shot. It's a nice touch. There could be some interesting effects in the interaction between the shine of oil and the graininess of the camera's digital noise. (My point-and-shoot does the same thing, by the way. It's a pain.)

Backdrops can work great with too much stuff around the house. You don't need a lot of space, just enough to position the camera to frame the subject. Drape a sheet or blanket over furniture for an interesting look. For example, I've hung a piece of dark fabric off a bookshelf to mask the books and junk while giving a plain background for shots. It usually works pretty well.

In any event, looking forward to seeing what you produce next.

Why do you never post your face?

Ya know.... you're the first person to notice (or at least ask) that. LOL!

I guess it just adds to the mystique of the photos.... & keeps them more in tune with the artistic, physical aspect; rather than making it more "personal" by giving them an actual idendity.

Yeah, that's it. That's the reason.
Hahahaha!

Actually, I'm one of those people who can never seem to catch a good facial expression in a picture.

So, for these types of shots, I keep the focus on the asthetics of the body, the pose, and the surroundings; instead of a distracting "dumb look" on my face.
**make sense??**

Do you primarily sleep on your back, stomach, left side, or right?
Also, you look like a Chad. Are you a Chad, Chad?
