Previous: Next:I researched dog fighting for this sequence, and I just want to say that it was not a pleasant experience. If you think Springtrap is being nasty, you don't want to know what he's not telling Richie. He's seriously pulling his punches here.

I see why springtrap is saying this. He is basically referring to himself earlier when he busted his hand in anger. He used his darker memories to explain what he realized he had become.

I'm honestly very surprised that BOB is as holding back more nastier bits and pieces of information about dog fighting from Richie, but then again, when I think back to Springaling 138 and 139, he did practically lost it by Fazbear Entertainment's betrayal and could've caused serious harm to Marionette and/or even the others in back there. To me it feels BOB seemed to have ventured severals steps far and beyond from any progress, yet again some small part to kept him back and instead took out the worst of the rage on himself, hence the busted hand.
Don't get me wrong though, I still get the feeling from this strip that almost anything can ignite BOB's pretty much labile state of mind on fire again.
The title of the strip makes me wonder if BOB ever got harmed or saw someone get injured during the dog fighting buisiness? It could be as well if he got queasy by the violence the dogs did to each other as well since he seemed to shudder at the memories.
I feel the need to write this; I love this arc a lot!

I didn't see this before. My message center has been positively insane lately! If I don't catch things right away they get buried. Which sucks, because I enjoy reading your comments.
Yes, it does mean something that BOB harmed only himself during his temper tantrum after reading the "Operation: Springtrap" file. He grabbed the Puppet around the throat and mimed shooting him in the temple, but only to make his point. When he got violent, it was toward himself. And he avoided traumatizing the ghost too much, or at least he thinks he did. He was trying to make the point that his dog was lucky to have a good life while they had it, but he didn't do it very well, did he.
I don't know if Bob was hurt by the dogs, or saw anyone being hurt. I don't think he really cares about the animals, it's just the overall brutality of the place he came from. The dogs were just one manifestation of the local color.
I'm glad you like this arc, considering how much misery is coming to the surface. Sometimes you have to air a wound to let it heal...

Ah, I see. Dogfights are brutal; I can see how a child raised in a family operating in that business would grow up to be a killer. It's a rather nice, if not sick and twisted, metaphor.

Springtrap's words hurt like hell but there is truth and comfort within them. At least that's what I'm getting out of it.

Oh my stars.
He was a mercy killer.
He wasn't killing them because their innocence repulsed him.
He was killing them so that their innocence wouldn't be spoiled by the world, as he saw it.
'Make an angel out of them.', before the world had a chance to break their hearts and take that innocence and happiness away.
Still twisted and evil, but in a horribly dark and poignant(as well as likely clinically insane) way.
It explains why he killed Puppet differently too.
He wasn't 'making an angel' out of him, and trying to save his innocence. He was genuinely angry about being observed and possibly stopped, or endangered. He didn't put the body into something that symbolized innocence and purity(Bonnie, Chica, Foxy) as he did with the others because he wasn't trying to preserve it, he simply wanted him dead and out of the way so he could continue. 'I didn't do you like I did the others.'

Sorry, but BOB wasn't killing the children to save them. I understand why it came across to you that way, though. "Make an angel out of them" was actually a rewrite of a line I liked better, "Make them mine," as if he was a predator bringing down prey. However, in context it appeared to mean that he was molesting the children, and I didn't want the story to go in that direction. It was already upsetting enough. So, I softened the line while still keeping the meaning, that he was ending their lives.
So, why did BOB kill children? Even he doesn't know. He's aware that he's a sociopath, he knows what he's doing is evil, but he can't see clearly enough into his own mind to understand his own motivations. He just knows that there are times he's fine being "the schmuck in the Fredbear costume" and there were times when he had to hurt someone.
You're spot on with the Puppet. BOB wanted Ian out of his hair, as the kid might actually be a threat to him. He deliberately switched methods so that killing wouldn't be linked to the others.
I just realized that, of all the children he offed, the one he didn't try to "make an angel" of is the one who has come closest to becoming one.

You know, I am fairly comfortable with being wrong about that.
It took Bob in a DEEPLY warped direction which I appreciated, but seemed...well...more than a little bit darker than you tend to go here.
Good story. And thank you for sharing some of the 'behind the scenes' information on the shaping and re-writing dialogue, it's incredibly interesting. Think you made the right decision in regards to the original line skewing unintentionally towards molestation, though I can see what your intention was, particularly with the nuggets over the last few days regarding rearing Dogs for fighting. I really enjoy your take on these characters and the story you're telling.

Definitely not something I'd want to google.. I hate animal abuse.
Poor Ritchie...but at least he'll feel better about his dog I guess. So, Springy, you get points for sort of kind of helping him feel a tiny bit better (after making him feel way worse, but yeah...) and for holding back all the even more horrible stuff.
I wonder if he's also talking about himself, and not just the dogs?
Well, anyway, looking forward to the next one! You do great work!

Reminds me of White Fang when he is bought and forced to fight.
Are you still making the fastest fazbear in the west? I can't find it anywhere.
I really can't tell if springtrap is trying to spite Richie by saying that his experience with dogs was worse or just telling a story.
Need some help here!

EDIT: Never mind. This is a news report, and it has some real information.

Well, if that's not comfort from Spring, I don't what is... but at least he's not entirely straight forward with the dog fighting, kid would probably disappear in puff of smoke and regain from somewhere else.
-Keep 'em coming Nega! They're good comics and give some facts that I, and probably others, never knew about!

I draw them that way--based on the crying children Easter egg in the east hall of the first game--to show utter horror. They also did that when they first saw Springtrap in "Requiem with a Birthday Cake."

I'm glad Springtrap held back on what he told Richie. What I know about dog fighting makes my blood run cold. And the only reason I know what I do about it is because my dog was a rescue from a dog fighting ring. (He was a puppy at the time and one of the 'testing' dogs)

Thank goodness he was rescued and got a good home while there was still time!
Remember the Michael Vick thing a few years back? He was a quarterback for The Atlanta Falcons (I live in Atlanta) and operated a dog fighting ring on his property. There were people who said he shouldn't have lost his place on the team because of that. I think he shouldn't have been allowed back on the playing field, period!
