Quite an interesting take on the centaur, as well as being one that makes me think of a steampunk-era version of the Transformers.

Man, I just can't get over this design. All I can think of is this thing going full speed with fire erupting from the engine and smoke bellowing out of its back as it bats away anything in its way with its clawed hands.

It seems like mounting the torso in front of the smoke box instead of on top of it would make the engine mores stable by lowering the center of gravity and make it easier for it to reach things running around at ground level blocking the track. It would also help it to lean forward and point its arms in front of it like a diver so that it was less likely to get stuck when going though a tunnel.

Still looks cool though.

Nicely outrageous yet conceivable design. (I especially like the belt-pulleys for the arms; a much more reasonable solution than the usual cliched gears...)

Great work, great use of tones and shades

Uses those massive arms to get upright? Dunno', man. I feel new lands would need to be conquered already in order to build tracks to BRING the centaur there.

The design of this monstrous locomotive is just awe inspiring in it's superb shading and scale, not to mention all the details put into the design. The most amusing of these details being the chimney resembling a castle tower.

Really, this is just a fantastic concept all around.

Well, the illustration is cool, but it wouldn't make much sense for a conquering army to rely on such a vehicle: if they are conquering new lands, then they'll be laying new rails as they go, as the new lands wouldn't have working railways or the local populous would have destroyed them.
Furthermore, railroad engineering is labor intensive and time consuming, thus being something that no field marshal would ever do in a battlefront.
And finally, this hulking juggernaut wouldn't ever do a thing: railroad-mounted cannons made sense as long as they could fire at least a few tens of miles away, but this weapon isn't only bound to the rails, but its only ranged weapons seem to be small, self-defense affairs.
