You all don't understand how happy I am with this sprite. After a mediocre-ish year of spriting, I gave this one my all, and boy does it show. No doubt, the hardest part of Smithy was the head (specifically that lovely moustache and beard). Hair is BiS style is difficult in general because of the shading around the characters. I also shyed away from blending the entire sprite into one black outline, and instead separated each section of his body into individual outlines (such as his hands, head, etc.). Seriously, though, it'll be hard for me to top this!
