Description
I've seen a bunch of these posted by other artists and have been wanting to make one myself ever since I introduced my MLP characters. So here we go, the bloodlines according to my universe.
Blacked out silhouettes do not currently have a design, other than the specified breed. At the moment. I'm considering trying to find appropriate adoptable designs to fill them in. Provided I can find any.
:: Discord & Prince Lumien ::
Since Cadence and Prince Blueblood are referred to as Princess Celestia's niece and nephew, and neither are the foal of Princess Luna, this leaves only one other option; they have or had least one other sibling. In this case, a brother. Younger than Celestia and older than Luna. Like his sisters he was born a unicorn and earned his alicorn wings and status with his powerful Chaos magic talent, but it was short lived unlike his sisters. Lumien had no interest in ruling, and since his sisters reigned over day and night respectively, he was often forgotten. Most assume he passed away shortly after the death of his beloved Mi Amore, and that Discord is the result of powerful Chaos magic (much like Spike to Twilight), but only Celestia knows that Discord is her dearest little brother. Not even Cadence of Blueblood know the truth, but Cadence spent enough time with her father before Blueblood came along and before the death of her mother to recognize some of Discord's tics as belonging to her father. This also explains Celestia's abnormal tolerance for Discord's antics.
:: Moondancer & Twilight Sparkle ::
I'll admit this thought never occurred to me until I recently came upon someone else's headcannon that Moondancer was a sibling to Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle given that she looks almost identical to Twilight in design, and even her colors are not terribly different. And since then, I haven't been able to get it out of my head, so for this version, she is actually Twilight's twin. But she's always felt inferior to Twilight's inborn talent for magic and spellwork and does her best not to be associated with either her sister or her brother's successes in life. Compared to them, Moondancer's greatest talent has been her mediocrity for being average in everything, even if she is slightly higher than the average pony. As a result, not many ponies realize they're related at all, and Moondancer likes it that way.
:: Moondancer & Blueblood ::
Moondancer and Blueblood started seeing each other in secret shortly after Twilight's relocation to Ponyville and decided to keep their relationship as such, given Blueblood's ties to royalty. Although they're relationship became less of a scandal when Shining Armor and Princess Cadence announced their wedding, and lessened further when Twilight ascended to become the fourth alicorn princess of Equestria. These events only proving to strengthen the relationship between the second-rate unicorn siblings who found solace in their shared inferiority in the shadows of their elders. At the moment, they do not have any foals of their own, but as they decide to make their relationship public, they may just end up having one of their own, very soon.
:: Twilight & Spike ::
The relationship between Twilight and Spike is a strange one. Like all of Princess Celestia's gifted students of magic, Twilight was presented with what had been deemed an infertile, or empty, dragon egg to test her magic on. However, it didn't end like a normal exam. Instead, the result was Spike. A dragonet that wasn't supposed to be. As a result, the little dragon became both companion, sibling, and child to the young unicorn filly. As Twilight aged faster than the little dragon, as they grew, their relationship took on more and more qualities of parent and child. And even when Spike was given the opportunity to return to the dragon community, he choose to stay with the mare who gave him life and raised him, even if neither of them realized she had been doing it.
:: Flash Sentry & Twilight Sparkle ::
After meeting the alternate universe version of Flash Sentry after Sunset Shimmer stole her crown, Twilight found herself rather attracted to the high school boy. But after returning to her own world, she accepted that it had been nothing more than a filly's fantasy. At least, until she stumbled upon the boy's pony-self employed by her sibling and stationed at the Crystal Empire. From there, feelings blossomed further, but it wasn't until after the birth of Flurry Heart that they began to explore a possible relationship. Thanks to a certain inquisitive and meddlesome little alicorn filly. It wasn't long before their relationship escalated further. After the first pregnancy scare, Flash decided to take responsibility and ask for Twilight's hoof in marriage, to which she agreed, but it was hardly their happily ever after. Twilight struggled with the pregnancy almost immediately and before it progressed very far, she lost the foal. They experienced two more miscarriages before Twilight finally managed to bring a foal closer to full-term. But alas, it still wasn't meant to be. Her son was born premature and his underdeveloped lungs refused to work properly, even with magical help and he passed less than a week after his birth. Afterwards, Twilight absolutely refused to try again, accepting that she would never be a mother. But before the distraught mare could be overcome with depression, Princess Celestia brought an orphan unicorn to the foal-less pair and explained she needed parents. Although Twilight was resistant to the idea, she couldn't deny Celestia and Melody slowly began to fill the void in their home. Flash greatly appreciates Celestia's intervention, and loves Melody dearly, bur he does wish Twilight would agree to trying one more time for a foal of their own.
:: Fluttershy & Iron Craft ::
Coming from a long line of blacksmiths, Iron Craft moved to Ponyville with the intent of opening his own forge after learning Ponyville didn't have one. However, the move didn't go quite as smoothly as he had hoped in the quaint little town and he found himself butting heads with both the Apple family for his forge's effect on the pristine and manicured land and Fluttershy for the effect the smoke from his forge had on the woodland critters that dwelled nearby. But after several months of butting heads, it had been Applejack who first noticed the slight modifications the unicorn crafter had attempted to make to compromise with the wishes of the ponyville natives. It was also Applejack who first noticed his growing interest in their favorite, soft-spoken pegasus despite his own voice to the contrary. And with the hard-working mare's assistance, the unicorn and pegasus were able to overcome their differences and before long Iron Craft's forge had become the most ecologically friendly forge any pony had seen, and a new addition to the population soon followed.
:: Rainbow Dash & Soarin ::
As Rainbow Dash spent more and more time with the wonderbolts, she grew ever closer to the extravagant Soarin who pretty much took her under his wing almost immediately and defended her youth and inexperience against the older and more selective members of the Wonderbolts. Despite his being older than Rainbow Dash, a relationship blossomed early on, although they tried (and failed) to keep it a secret from the public. Eventually Lunar Storm came into the world only a few months before Fluttershy's own son. And just like their mothers before them, Storm and Bolt grew up together, co-parented by the other couple, resulting in a friendship so strong, they often mistook each other for brothers than friends.
:: Rainbow Dash & Scootaloo ::
Much like Twilight and Spike's relationship, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo share a complicated relationship. Scootaloo was orphaned in her early school days, and much like Rainbow had looked up to the Wonderbolts at an early age, Scootaloo had worshiped Rainbow Dash as her idol. After discovering this, Rainbow had gone out of her way to live up to the little filly's expectations, and after learning she had no family of her own, took her under her wing, developing a relationship not unlike that of an older sister and younger sister, but also one similar to that of a teenage mother and child. As a result, Scootaloo is often cast in the light of both older sister and aunt to Lunar Storm, none in the family able to accurately coin the proper term and relationship.
:: Rarity & Crimson Summer ::
Although not an original native of Ponyville, Crimson Summer moved to the little town with his parents as a young colt, even though he kept mostly to himself and no one paid him much attention. He had developed a crush on Rarity in their school days and maintained such feelings well into their adulthood, even if the fashionista never realized it. It wasn't until Sweetie Belle began struggling with her studies and he became a frequent visitor to the little boutique to tutor the growing mare that they began to spend time together and Rarity realized their compatibility, even if he had no sense of fashion at all. But he had accepted the truth that Rarity would never return his feelings and became blind to her flirtations until the mare finally confronted him outright. Despite this, they had a slow-burning relationship and were one of the last of the Mane6 mares to tie the knot and bring a new life into the world.
:: Pinkie Pie & Cheese Sandwich::
(Not shown) Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich dated off and on for a couple years, but Cheese's refusal to settle down soon grated on the energetic mare's patience to start a family and eventually their relationship fell apart (Note: I do usually support this coupling, but I couldn't find a plausible way for him to be Rose's father, and like her design too much to alter it, so for this version, their courtship was doomed by Cheese's adventurous spirit and refusal to settle down, and Pinkie did not choose to leave Ponyville and her friends)
:: Pinkie Pie & Orchid Novel ::
After the failure of her relationship with Cheese Sandwich and the growing envy of her friends finding their significant others and starting families of their own Pinkie began to draw away from her friends. Although she didn't go out of her way to avoid her friends, she always seemed to find an excuse to be elsewhere where it came to their husbands and foals. It was during one of these moments of excuse that she stumbled, quite literally, on to a young journalist visiting ponyville in search of inspiration for his next piece. Deciding a lunch date would be the perfect repayment of falling on top of him, the two hit it off surprisingly quickly. Orchid began visiting the town more and more often until one day he surprised his beloved Pinkie by revealing his decision to relocate permanently. Taken in by this gesture, Pinkie realized this pony of journalism was exactly the stallion she had been waiting for, and it was further confirmed when he revealed to her that he wanted a family of his own. It wasn't long before the welcomed a tiny pinkie unicorn into the world.
:: Applejack and Falling Star ::
Being a close friend of Iron Craft, Falling Star relocated to Ponyville shortly after his best friend and immediately found himself taken in by the strong and independent mare that was Applejack. He began courting her almost as soon as he arrived, although given her beginning relationship with Iron Craft, she rebuked his advances at first, refusing to be associated with someone with ties to another pony with so little regard to the environment. Falling Star was the one who opened Applejack's eyes to the reality that Iron Craft was trying to compromise to her and Fluttershy's desires without completely abandoning hope for his forge. Not long after, Apple Crash made her entrance into the world, followed by her little brother Starfall a year or two later. Since Applejack never met Falling Star's parents, or wondered how he had become such close friends with a unicorn in Canterlot (a town that catered mostly to unicorns), she had no idea he had any other ancestry than earth pony, same as herself, until their son was born. A unicorn, borne of two earth ponies. It was only after this that she discovered her husband carried the genetic traits of all three primary breeds of ponies in a genetic anomaly known as the Chimera trait which resulted in an earth pony that had the capability of producing any of the three breeds in his offspring depending on his partner's genetic combination. As the first Apple foal to be born with magic, Starfall became his mother's pride and joy, even though he always felt overshadowed by his elder sister who would one day inherit the family farm.
