Another note that I didn't put on this: A hand's length from middle fingertip to palm base should be roughly the same length from chin to middle of the forehead. Index and pinky fingers should rest about halfway across the eyes themselves. If you want a character to have noticeably long or wide hands, expand either proportion accordingly!

Okay, so when I see someone has drawn hands kind of oddly, the problem usually isn't their general skill level. It's the proportions! Just like faces, hands have typical proportions that you can use as a guide to draw them in such a way that they won't look strange. I'm hesitant to say draw them "right" because that isn't always the goal. So instead, just draw them with generally correct proportions and check your work if something doesn't look the way you think it should.

This isn't a detailed guide, nor is it meant to be. These are the basic rules that you can grow from.

EDIT: I'm really glad this was picked up in a tutorial group. I really hope someone can grow from this guide.
