Description
First results from trying Hexels 3 from Marmoset. I discovered that Inkscape runs horribly on my new Mac, so I've been looking for some vector alternatives. Affinity Designer seems the best candidate, but I wanted to finally give this Hexels thing a go after trying to get my head around just what this damn program is supposed to be. Although it can export to the SVG format and insists that you are indeed drawing in vectors, it's not actually what I would call a vector program, though there's some notable features. Primarily, it's a pixel art program, with leanings towards the isometric side of the spectrum.
This is an image I've made before using a few different programs (including Blender), which serves as something of a gauntlet, a framework to force me to learn the tools. The creature is always different each time, but it's always crawling along a checkered floor and away from a red box with the lid removed.
