Description Species: D. bediscus, D. scimitarcephaus, D. trageus
Size:  3-6 meters long; 1-2 meter head "blades"
Range:  North Arteria, Trianka, Teraria
Distinguishing features:  Large head, reptilian features
Description:  This is the first of the "amphitiles" a group of amphibians that have more reptilian features like the large claws and "scales" found on it belly and its limbs.  It's large crocodile like head allows it to ambush fish and dinosaurs like the Nanocamptus depicted here.  They use their large head for hydrodynamics to allow them to swim more efficiently through both marine and freshwater environments.  THe largest species, Diplotator scimitarcephaus, (seen here) has sharpened sides of the blades allowing them to slice through the thick grass and even tree roots.  They have decent eyesight which they use to hunt prey both in and out of water.  The large sail on the back can be used for sexual display as well as heat radiator.  The unique teeth allow them to both capture and slice prey to shreds.  Like most amphibians, they still lay large patches of clear eggs but both parents will take care of the young.  They are cannibals to younger individuals but also are hunted by larger amphibians, marine reptiles, and medium sized dinosaurs.  They live around 50 years.
