Description
This is my signature piece, and the one that is dearest to my heart. It is also special to me in that it won Best of Show in the Amatuer Fantasy Divison the very first time it was shown at the 1997 Chattacon, my first and last convention. I was so thrilled. It was also my "swan song", if you will allow the expression, because not long after that I took a very long hiatus from art. Now, after 6 years, I'm back and it feels wonderful.This piece was painted using Windsor and Newton oils on illustration board.

I'm going to copy/paste exactly what I put in the DD Suggestion note to Zeruch. I don't know if the note will be read or what will happen, but the description there is the best I can give. ^.^;;

The first thing that hits the viewer's eye is, clearly, the palate. Smooth rose blushes paired with charismatic but understated blues, and even a little green and orange in there somewhere. The entire piece holds itself together by the color, with the dramatic tinting of the figure being the highlight. The use of color scheme -and- great focal point controls the viewer's eye expertly.
But what of the actual application of the medium? The controlled strokes speak for themselves. In just a few curves, they suggest the background of clouds, the rolling waves, and seafoam bubbles that circle the feet of the elegant 'wavedancer'. But as much as they are controlled, the effect after taking in a whole piece is one of movement and grace -- strengthened by the pose of the figure herself.
All this wonder and control, and only four comments. Yes, four. Does such talent merit only half a handful of replies?

Wow, I don't know what to say. To say merely 'thank you' seems so pale in comparison, but I truly appreciate it.
