It occurs to me that I was asked ina discussion and I completely forgot to answer the question while chatting with Tattered-Dreams so to answer you and to apologize for completely messing that part of the discussion when I replied to you I sketched up a quick step-by-step for how I put collars together. The Step 1/2 and 3/4 can be combined by their pairs if you just draw straight up circles and then overlap them, but the collars always felt 'stiff' to me when I did it that way so yeah xDEnjoy
