Description My final project for Course 1 class 4. We got to design this one with everything we learned, although I did use royal icing which they never said we could/couldn't use...

Chocolate with cherry filling and vanilla frosting. I used a special tool to sculpt the frosting on the outside. It doesn't show much in this pic though. It didn't turn out as fine as it should have anyway as I was very low on frosting and had to keep it thinner than I wanted to.

I got picked on quite a bit from the teacher and some students for this cake, especially after the frosting roses were put on and I started putting on the frosting vines with royal icing flowers. But I got many compliments from them as well so it all works out. I didn't put the border on the bottom until I got home though.

I am a little disappointed with the light green frosting not being as nice as it could be and the fact that I had to use the canned frosting for the roses. It doesn't taste as nice as the homemade icing but it does come out A LOT smoother. Also its a little hard to see but you can sort of make out a tiny spot under one of the pink flowers where cherry pie filling syrup was trying to ooze out. Also I made the mistake of putting leaves around roses as I was laying them on, so instead of having seven roses total I ended up with just six... Oh well...

Other than those little details I must say I am happy with this cake. Can't wait to start course 2 this week...

This one turned out to be my favorite so far. Almost perfect, if only I had better frosting and more of it... Oh and also if I could do the regular rose instead of the ribbon rose... I can do them, its just that I feared classmates would actually get mad if I did...

Why would your classmates get mad? If you have talent, show it, Unless they are jealous or something If you used more frosting, maybe it would look better, but you know the saying less is more? Frosting is good, but ussuelly if i have to much of it i get a belly ache. lol

I didn't have enough so I had to spread it a little thin. I'm not a big frosting eater either, although I sometimes make an exception if its chocolate.

Anyway. It just needed to be a little thicker so the design would show up better on the sides. I had to glide very very lightly with the stencil because it was so thin... Also the thinness made me have to drag the stencil slowly so it made the lines a little wobbly too... But I am quite happy with this cake.

As for classmates I had a problem in 10th grade where a girl got jealous of how well I picked up on the potters wheel and made a third of the class hate me. It almost happened again in a jewelry class in 12th grade with another girl getting angry at me. So its just a little fear I developed. Fortunately nobody actually seemed to get mad in this cake class, just joking around...

...hopefully...
