Commissioned portrait of a Golden Retriever named Legend11x14 inches
Colored pencil
My scanner really did a number on this one... the colors are all off and it looks flat which isn't the case in real life. Not to mention the freaking lines all over it. *sigh* I was going to edit out that dog hair that got scanned in there and then decided it wasn't worth it cause the scan was so bad. Thought I had it made now that I finally got my scanner compatible with my Mac, but of course the scanner itself doesn't feel like working right anymore. Ah well.
For the record it's not this pink in real life (especially the background). The colors are more subtle and it's softer looking.

(so glad I changed his body positioning last minute, that really made a huge difference I think)

I am so envious. e_e; Especially the nose. The fur is great, but I absolutely abhor noses because I muddle them out. The amount of detail and gleam of the eyes is awesome.

The lighting was hard actually because it was different and spotty in every single ref picture, so I had to do a lot of improvising. I think it's not shaded enough actually..I'd probably try to make it a little more contrasty if I'd had more time. The owner was very pleased with it though, so that's really all that matters in the end I guess.
I'm glad people like Goldens, because there is going to be no shortage of drawings of them coming from me now that almost my entire client base is Golden owners O_o I'm going to get a little tired of drawing them I think heh.
I'm using Prismacolors right now and am..relatively happy with them. I dunno, colored pencil is not my favorite medium at all so I always find fault with them, but I don't know if that's the brand of pencil I use or just characteristics of the medium itself. *shrugs*
