Description
I realized I didn't know the whole story while painting this. Here is one version - germanstories.vcu.edu/grimm/ra…Also, I altered her "gown" a bit to resemble a tower more than a mermaid tail.
Entered in this contest - FEBRUARY WINNERS AND MARCH CONTEST (ISOLATION)

Thanks, I tried to tune in the colors to my liking.
Some of the shadowing is good.

Gosh, this picture is an eerily moving composition. I especially love the scissors in the light and her "head" looming in the dark above...

Thanks, I moved the scissors and the back lighting around a bit, I hope it worked.
Digital art, I get to do that!

No witch this time, Raiponce chooses to cut her hair with the Prince's help. They don't need to see to agree, very interesting interpretation.

Is it Raiponce? It's all jumbled.

True, I didn't even think of the woman as blind till you said that.

This scene is very rich, too rich to be not elaborated more clearly. This emaciated being is one with her prison. Maybe she grew together with it, maybe she grew out of it. Their stone roots merge into a residue of feminine softness, ending in a headless kind of hangman's noose braid. She is the prison all to herself. Of course gallows can be kind of a ticket to free yourself, so why consider to cut this possibility.
Her supposed blind savior puts himself at risk by handling the giant scissors, even where he still stands with his torso on very fragile (and possibly shaky; self-built) subsoil.
The question is, where would she start cutting herself and where does the isolation begin and where does it end? A connecting element is their blindness, but to see the most important things you need no eyes.
I wish for both that they will find a way out of their isolation.

You put my subliminal thoughts into great words. I can't, won't, confirm or disagree with anything you said, but I love to read your interpretations. I'm glad you put some thought into what I spent many hours thinking about. I'm glad you pick up on the subtleties I leave behind.
By the way, I originally intended to enter your (my) pig pic in this contest. But I decided your photo really nailed the feeling of isolation, not my version. My rendition was more of an escape.

Your works invite one to go on a mind journey for a few minutes. Even if I repeat myself, it is - especially regarding this picture - as if you open the page of a gloomy fairy tale book.
The least I can do to value the amount of thoughts and time you put in your pictures is to write a comment and describe what I see in them. The fantasy is blessedly free and so are interpretations.
This picture fit much better for the contest so do not worry.

Very interesting and intriguing, as usual. The guy doesn't have legs, and the woman has a mermaid tail..he is blind, but he is handing her the scissors to, i think, free herself? O.o Very puzzleing

He has ladder legs! Not a mermaid, I tried to fix that some.
The scene mixes up the whole story :]

I love how her body is reminiscent of a mermaid. She has no head.... very bizarre. I love the blindfolded dude on the ladder too - he could grow a tail and become a merman.
Is she standing on the bones of those she has let down her hair for?
The lighting in this pic is exceptional, it hugs the contours of her body.

I adjusted her to look more like a tower, hope it helped. So no merman transformations :]
Yeah, the bones are something like that.
