Wow! My goodness! These are epic Dude! I'm glad I'm not the only person who draws aero engines! Most of my references are either drawings from old issues of Flight magazine or photos of the engines from online or from engineering textbooks

IMPRESSIVE, you had actually seen one?, this drawing is so very detailed it only needs the reference text to be used in a manual

Thanks Yes I have! I had the opportunity to see one up close in amuseum. I also had an engineering instructor at Uni who had a RR Conway overhaul manual that he let me thumb through

Thanks! So I take it that you're into aero engines as well?

Yeah i want to build them as soon as i can finish my studies and afford to make my own firm

Sweeet! Are you into any vintage piston or jet engines? I like the R4360 Wasp Major, the RR Conway, and the RR Tyne turboprop

Thanks alot man I'm spending more time on trying shading techniques now, so I can add more depth to these!

You're completly awesome. Man, can you draw detail. I can only tell that this is an engine and have no idea how all those things work, but I'm faving this.

next,an RB-211 i hope?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-12 21:37:32 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking about that. I need to do a more recent engine. A high-bypass, like an RB211 or CF-6!

Rolls-Royce.....! gotta go in style.

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-15 22:46:43 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh yeah. And speaking of RR, I watched the Barret-Jackson car auction last night and I seen a MINTY fresh looking 81' Phantom go for only 25,000$. I'm not so schooled in Rolls-Royces, but that seemed like a steal for such a fine vehicle.

that is a good price...

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-16 01:23:27 +0000 UTC]

Wow! maybe one day I could afford one!

TomCatDriver In reply to NinjaPickle [2009-01-16 22:07:47 +0000 UTC]

not to mention fuel....they do eat a lot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-20 22:27:00 +0000 UTC]

LOL! BTW, on that same auction, there was a 1929 RR Phantom Dual Cowl that fetched 45,000$! I think these people are getting RR's for a steal here!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomCatDriver In reply to NinjaPickle [2009-01-21 09:24:50 +0000 UTC]

i saw one on an eBay auction go for about ten times that amount.......1928,i think it was. and rest assured the craftsmen who built it are all long gone.

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-21 23:37:39 +0000 UTC]

NICE!!! That's the kind of value I like to see in a luxury car. I'm not saying that muscle cars are bad, I'm just not going to cough up 145,000$ for a 69 Camaro, when I could get a 1935 Packard or 1929 Rolls for a fourth of that amount!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TomCatDriver In reply to NinjaPickle [2009-01-22 05:35:40 +0000 UTC]

if those classic muscle cars are in such demand, they may want to produce them again....i,m sure all the blueprints are still on file somewhere.

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-22 22:36:54 +0000 UTC]

I tell my Dad that alot, and he tells me they can't because alot of it is safety regulations and emissions control would never allow you to build a car with a five-hundred horsepower V8 engine ever again

TomCatDriver In reply to NinjaPickle [2009-01-22 23:12:28 +0000 UTC]

theres no such thing as "can,t".......! silly rules.

NinjaPickle In reply to TomCatDriver [2009-01-22 23:50:07 +0000 UTC]

True! Maybe one day, someone will be brave enough to revive the venerable old Packard marque and stuff V16's into Cadillacs again!
