Heron, ink+watercolor+photoshop. 8.5”x18”

Had to do this one pretty quick, but I’m pretty okay with it. The color palette ended up surprising me, but in a good way, I think.

So, Heron lady in a lagoon with mangroves. There’s something hidden in the image as well, not sure it it’s subtle or obvious because I’ve been looking at it for so long. Maybe successful, maybe not. EDIT: apparently it is extremely subtle, which is another way of saying no one's been seeing it, but here we go: there's a crocodile head in profile in the ripples of the water. Once you see the eye it should be easy enough to spot.

I was in Oaxaca over break and we visited a lagoon that was full of all these awesome birds, so this is sort of a reaction to that.

Going for kind of a wood block print aesthetic.
