From my slide collection. One of the few remaining centre island freighters that used to call in our ports during the 1980's, they were so nice to see because they looked like ships and not boxes with pointy ends.Related content

Yep, I love a good centre island freighter and a twin island tanker, they were already rare when I got into ship photography, so I do tend to smile when I look through some of my pics. These box boats do very little for me I am afraid

Sometimes I check Shipspotting.com for cargo ships that even have a superstructure amidships.

They are were beasties even when I was shipwatching in the 80's and 90's. I know I prefer them to the superstructure aft configuration. I also prefer the twin island style tanker, but they too were almost impossible to see.
