You speak the truth
I love B&W film compared to digital gray scale.

It says to me, the day of the dSLR has come. Great shot, whatever the concept was, it's a terrific outcome. The lighting is subtle, but adds to the disturbing image.

Or maybe, why bother with film when you can get digital if that is a film from a camera..wich humm it is ?

NoodleIncident In reply to RobHM [2006-01-06 01:45:24 +0000 UTC]

what sort of transition? if you dont mind me asking ... btw awesome photo ... i would consider doing something like this myself ... except ... i paid a lot for all the film i have ... although now that i have a D70 ... i guess i wont need a lot of that film ... hmmm ...

NoodleIncident In reply to DrakenDark [2006-01-06 01:38:24 +0000 UTC]
I used some kodak color that I got with my F80 a while ago. But by transition I meant from film to digital.

ah that's what i assumed ... but i dont like to assume ... yeah i actually made that same transition this christmas ... i got a Nikon D70 ... so my Poor F70 is on the back burner ... but i'm gonna keep it around .. i have a lot of film left to use ... that and i think true black and white film has a special something that converting digital photos into black and white lacks.

ps how do you get it to list all of the detaisl and information about the picture
shutter , iso, ap, etc

russellmc In reply to russellmc [2006-01-06 20:37:35 +0000 UTC]
i think i figured it out
see when i save all my photos in cs as jpg i go "save for web" so i can resize them easily but it erases all of the data your camera puts on the picture
where as if you resize your image and THEN save as a jpg, it keeps all of the information from your original
interesting eh
not really

I used to wonder that too. But I just load it up from my camera and it just shows up on here.

Hah, your funny dude. Its just that I like B&W when its film, and digital for color. Everything else sucks in my opinion.

Marvelous shot! The set-up and timing is exellent. I've tried to work with fire and smoke myself, but timing really is of the essense. I am considering what it would look like if the object had been a little bit more centered or perhaps the film stretched over the greater half of the frame, filling it a bit more. However, what you manage here is a focus on the flame, that is where we should look. Also, it might look interesting with a developed roll of film.

NoodleIncident In reply to Talescaper [2005-12-28 17:11:36 +0000 UTC]
You mean, like develop some negatives of objects so that you can actually see the negatives on film?
Oh and streching it across was really hard for me, the film is so defiant on being curly. Thanks for the fav dude.

Talescaper In reply to NoodleIncident [2005-12-28 17:19:11 +0000 UTC]
That is exactly what I mean. You could even consider what kind of photos you would want to burn. Consider it half performance, half photography art. And if you do want to stretch it better, you could try to hang the film from some weights first.
I remember now that I did something simular here although that did not involve real destruction, of course.

Like a buring match of anything. I will try those. Maybe I'm on to something with fire?

Talescaper In reply to NoodleIncident [2005-12-28 18:12:03 +0000 UTC]
Well, yes. By all means. Burn everything.

haha love this idea! its like, analog is dead, digital is the new thing! Not that I dont like analog, personaly i think its better.. Very nicely done, you should perhaps do it with a shorter shutterspeed so you get a more detailed flame, but that may require some more light.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
NoodleIncident In reply to jensvium [2005-12-28 17:06:56 +0000 UTC]
You mean make the speed shorter just to get it blurred and such, or just a slower speed to make it much brighter?
I still shoot film, but after getting introduced to digital I realize just how much easier it is. Its kindove cheating I think

jensvium In reply to NoodleIncident [2005-12-28 17:16:05 +0000 UTC]
yea, the editing might be, but what you do in photoshop etc is just the same as you might do with expencive photo equipment.. At least if you keep with in the bounderies of not clearly manipulating the image..
by lower shutter speed i mean, the time the camera uses to take a shot, like u used "Shutter Speed: 25/1000 second". If you lover that you could get more detail on the flame because it moves quite a lot, and it you used less time to take the shot it would make that movemt smaller and therefore getting more detail.. Dont know if you follow im quite bad at explaining things :S

NoodleIncident In reply to jensvium [2005-12-28 17:55:02 +0000 UTC]
So you mean a higher speed. Ok, I understand now. It could be interpreted 2 different ways.

It did.
I got really high off the fumes too! It was the most incredible euphoria I've ever experienced, which is hard to beleive considering I did some crack (the smoking kind) a couple days before.
