I had been really curious to if using a corset and glue would work at all and I have to say I am super excited to find out that it does
I know I'm super late on here but so happy I found this I might use this for my remake Elsa if I do end up remaking it because I have a feeling that my colors are kind of off with the ones I got for my Halloween one unfortunately
So if I do get around to a remake I will do this seeing as I have no knowledge of sewing unfortunately>.<
Thanks again for tutorialΒ Β Β

No worries! I have to say, it's been about a year since I did mine and it is STILL working well! I wear her pretty often (between conventions and parties). It's a lot of upfront work, but in my eyes, it has been worth it ^^ Good luck, whichever way you decide to go!

Oh! Another question how long did it take to make the bodice?

About 60 hours in total. It was a brutal, but worthwhile 60 hours lol

How did the glue hold up? I'd be worried about gluing anything to a dress.

NostalchicksCosplay In reply to MotherNature101 [2014-06-15 12:07:28 +0000 UTC]
I have since retired my Elsa (at least for now!), but the glue still holds up well! I had maybe 5-6 sequins fall off in an 8 hour wear day.
A friend of mine used E600 on her dress using the same sequins and hasn't had to replace any sequins yet: the only downside is E6000 takes forever to dry.

Oh I have a question again.... do you use a glue gun for this or what?
π: 0 β©: 1
NostalchicksCosplay In reply to Yuki-the-Trickster [2014-04-16 14:12:39 +0000 UTC]
I used a glue gun. My friend used spray adhesive and fabric glue on hers and it didn't shed ^^ It's just a matter of if you don't mind replacing sequins vs taking a longer time to first apply them.

I hand wash mine when needed. It's not too bad!

Will it be safe in the washer?

NostalchicksCosplay In reply to Yuki-the-Trickster [2014-03-25 02:44:37 +0000 UTC]
I would take a safe guess that it is not. I hand wash mine gently and it works well

When I attempted this the pieces kept falling off no matter how much glue I used. Please be careful because not all material works with hot glue

Looks really good, and is the most realistic idea I've seen so far. I might use a pin in each to sew them on, I trust thread better than glue, but it should work the same, right?Β

NostalchicksCosplay In reply to StarSpinner678 [2014-02-22 02:10:48 +0000 UTC]
In theory, you are correct! I just didn't want the attachment point to be visible, so I used glue. Let me know how threats works! I'm very interested.

So you just glued these straight on the fabric? I am making the corset (already have the pattern) and wasn't sure what type of material you used to glue these to. Was it just cotton or satin? Thanks so much for posting this ^_^ Everyone has such a different way of making theirs and I was not going to hand bead the whole thing haha Beautiful job!
π: 0 β©: 1
NostalchicksCosplay In reply to Auradell [2014-01-28 11:37:26 +0000 UTC]
Yep! I glued these directly to the corset. The only downside for that is that I have to hand wash the thing. And, I'm sure most material, as long as it can grab onto the glue, would be fine for the corset. Good luck making it!

Did you have any problems with sequins falling off or cracking of glue while wearing it? Any problems sitting in it?
π: 0 β©: 1
NostalchicksCosplay In reply to For-He-who-is-grand [2014-01-28 11:35:07 +0000 UTC]
The glue stays just fine. There is very minimal shedding (maybe 4 or 5 sequins when I wore it for 12 hours). I can sit, stand, jump, or do anything in this, really! If you take the time to glue things properly, it should be ok.
