no-nonsense
unusually mature and serious for his age, he doesn’t like stalling tasks and gets things done that have been relayed to him. While he understands fun, he prefers to keep work and play seperate.
reserved
he doesn’t warm up easily to others and generally prefers to stay out of the spotlight. Even with friends, he seldom shows affection openly.
observant
with a sharp eye for detail, he is quick to catch onto a situation and finds it relatively easy to learn new things. It doesn't mean he'll master any skill perfectly, especially if it's the kind that requires practice.
callous
Rin never learned proper etiquette (or so he will claim) and when given the chance, he will openly speak his mind without regard for the other person’s feelings.
crafty
he believes that ‘the end justifies the means’, so he doesn’t mind breaking a few rules when it brings the desired results. He gets irritated when he's outsmarted, however.

he doesn’t hesitate to resort to violence if it gets his points across. It’s not rare for him to get physical once his patience runs thin.

History:
Rin grew up in the north of the Sun Empire, in a small village orphanage managed by a shrine. He never learned who his parents were, though it’s likely they were one of the many casualties of the recent years of calamity and war. He was found as a babe abandoned by the shrine’s doorsteps, not being the first who had such a start in life. With many children of all ages that demanded the attention from the few caretakers, Rin learned quickly to make himself useful so there’d be reason to keep him around. Those who couldn’t adapt or thought they could do better have left to find their luck elsewhere, but not Rin. He reasoned that having a roof over his head was better than running off into the unknown, though once in a while he would dream of a better life.
Once he was old enough to not need constant supervision, he joined some of the older orphans to roam the streets of the nearby village during the day, either to find menial work or cause trouble for entertainment. One of these days, he got acquainted with a stranger, a wandering scholar who’d seen places that Rin hasn’t even heard of. By spending time with this man, he got a taste of a different kind of life and the desire to leave was ignited within his heart. Perhaps it’s his luck or divine intervention when that very man decided to adopt him upon learning about his wish. Out of gratitude, Rin became his student and self-proclaimed attendant, swearing to accompany and aid him wherever he’d go.

Somewhat short for a child his age and often mistaken for being younger.
He will sometimes levitate when asleep.
Would never waste any food offered to him, though anything with a strong taste makes him nauseous.

Actually pretty good at housework.
