Description
“And [he] sailed back over a year and in and out of weeks
and through a day and into the night of his very own room
where he found his supper waiting for him and it was still hot”
First piece of art of 2017 and the first piece of art
I've made on my new tablet! I ended up getting
the Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 , have to say it's fun.
the Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 , have to say it's fun. Though
it has it's challenges since I haven't done anything
with a tablet in seven months. Piece is for Tam on Doutaini !

I will acknowledge the fur was half assed.. I was trying to debate on the amount of detail I wanted to put in

Howdy! Here from Canipulate with your critique!
I don't know what you're talking about, but I think this looks really darn decent! I especially love the outlining fur and how it gives the wolf a nice fluffy appearance. Ten outta ten, much soft. <3
I also noticed that you added some soft highlights to certain areas of the fur around the head. I think that really helps to separate the head from the rest of the dark pelt of the body. However, some similar highlights and a secondary layer of highlights could really benefit the definition of the fur if put along the back, forehead, and muzzle. Since the lighting is pretty strong in this piece, I think it could help to brighten it up -and again- add a little more definition.
Secondly, I think your shadow should have been placed on the other side of the wolf or closer to being underneath it. Again, because of the placement of lighting, where the shadow is placed compared to where the other shadows in the background appear - it could add a better sense of realism and placing the character more inside the picture. The shadowing coming off from the front most paw also is a little out of place and doesn't play as nicely with the bulk of the shadowing you have put down. Additionally, blurring around the edges of the shadow could really benefit the look of the shadow.
That all being said, I think this is still rather gorgeous. It is a very tranquil looking piece and I'm excited to see where your art goes from here. ^^

Thank you !
That shadow was a hassle for me while I was playing out with it. Never could end up finding how to make it just right. But I appreciate the note on that!
As for the fur, I'll keep that in mind to go back with a second layer for some highlights for future use.
