Leader of a team that protects a world that fears and hates them, Scott Summers himself.

Secret Origins: Years ago, Christopher Summers, test pilot of the US. Air Force, would take his family on a vacation to South America. During the travel, their plane would crash circa Central America, the only survivors being Scott and Alex, his sons.
Although Alex and Scott would eventually be found by some of the residents, taking the young boys to the nearest hospital, taking care of their injuries. Scott in particular would have suffered a injury on his head, causing him traumatic amnesia but also somehow activating his X-Gene at an early age, one night these ''mutant abilitties'' would manifest as Scott's eyes would generate some sort of optic blast that would destroy the roof of the hospital.
After that, Scott would be nearly a year in a coma, up until he would wake up and be placed on foster care in Nebraska, living a normal life up until his teens were his X-Gene would remanisfest and cause him to be alienated by his peers, treated as an outcast. This was until he was aproached by a man who was interested on Scott's ability, this man being renowned genetist, Professor Charles Xavier.
Professor Xavier would approach to Scott with an offering: Becoming a student on his ''School for Gifted Youngsters'', a place where Scott would not only learn how to use his abilitties, but also be arround people like him and to fight for equality between humans and mutants. Scott would accept, as he would become one of the first students of Xavier's School, one of the first members and leader of the X-Men.
Astonishing!: Over the next years, Scott would lead the X-Men as a covert team, protecting from the dark a world that feared and hated them, both mutants and humans a like, eventually as the so-called Heroic Age begun with the Justice League becoming famous public-figures as heroes for the world, it was decided by Scott and the Professor to have the X-Men start operating in a more public light, acting more as superheroes than an black ops unit, one of their first public ountances being the return and terrorist attack at the Cape Citadel during a missile test.
The Registration Act: On the verge of the passing of the law known as the Superhero Registration Act under the name ''The Metropolis Accords'' which requires most superpowered individuals to enlist their identities to the goverment, ARGUS and others, the X-Men had been struggling with mostly lower level problems, their biggest being helping most of the superhero community to control most stuff after the death of Superman.
With this new law, most mutants were either incarcerated and/or registred, the X-Men mostly remaining neutral to the public eye. However, in secret, Cyclops had been sending Wolverine alongside another team, X Force, onto the field as of to become some sort of Mutant Liberator of sort, freeing mutants from ARGUS' prisons and taking them back to the newly relocated X-Mansion on Genosha as a type of Mutant Safe Haven. While that, Scott himself had been maintaining both the goverment and the team busy, with Beast running most of the political stuff as part of senatorial meetings while Scott himself alongside Storm re-organizing the X-Men onto new divisions as of to prepare for the untinkable, creating X-Men Gold and X-Men Blue.
