Description
This is the human controlled space somewhen at the end of the 22nd century. You'll note that some stars are on there double. I tried to arrange the stars so that all connections can be shown, but since Human Space is a 3d space around Earth that's actually impossible. So to show where the left of the map connects with the right and the up with the down, some systems and connections appear double. In the beginning of the map, I noted down the ly distances between the connected stars, but yeah, that became too work intensive for my likingsThe Fermi Paradox was partially solved by the discovery of sentient space warships in the space around Sol. Due to this, it is considered a contained location by the rest of the galaxy. Nonetheless, those 'warbots' have taking a liking to humanity, and even have over centuries terraformed a planet around Alpha Centauri A to become rather exactly Earth-like. Still, contact with the warbots is rare and they themselves poorly understood. Apparently they were left behind from a war between two civilizations, one centred on Murphid and the other on Zeta Reticuli. Both civilizations are extinct now, and humanity has inherited their remaining wormholes and terraformed planets, so humans are off to a great start.
The great powers are evidently the EU, the USA and (trailing behind a bit) China. India is sort of a fourth power due to its dominance of the Alliance, which besides India also consists of (united) Arabia, Japan and various Latin American states. The Pacific Coalition consists mostly of Canada, Australia, NZ and the Philippines, plus supported exile Chinese communities. Trans-Veloran Space is the human term for where their sphere connects to the wider galaxy. There be aliens, but they're even worse understood than the warbots and contact is extremely rare to non-existent. Nonetheless, the EU has reserved this connection exclusively for themselves, to gain a monopoly on all possible alien trade... which so far is also pretty much non-existant, though.
