So far Iβm on my twentieth attempt to do a anime girl. Everything looks fine except the eyes. Β Every attempt gets closer and closer, I think iβm trying too hard to immitate the style of others and not rendering around the shapes. No, it's not necesserily blue; red, orange, yellow and purple also work well, depending on the eye color ^^Β

For your question, in step 12 I use an airbrush with brush size set at about 10 points, but the bigger the canvas, the bigger the brush size. Β
