Description A salamander standing on a heart shaped rock.

Modeled and rendered with Blender 2.33

Some technical facts about this image:

- The salamander is in two layers, one textures with a clouds procedural texture, the second with a halo material (this kind of material is more common in particle systems, but worked fine).
- The salamander textured material has a small value on the emissive component to make it illuminate part of the environment.
- All textures are procedural.
- It was rendered using the internal blender raytracer using radiosity.
- Instead of antialiasing, I rendered the image to 3125 x 5000 pixels then scaled it down (I still have the original render, so I am thinking on making it printable).
- I wish I had used a depth of field effect, but it would have involved rendering the image 8 to 16 times.
- The salamander is skinned, so it could be animated without much effort.

Like the work and nice to see others using Blender 3D. I'm kind of stuck between Cinema 4D and Blender 2.36. Materials in C4D are easier to modify and such. However, blender is overall easier on the modeling imho. Kind of a trade off between the two. I do like the shaders and such in C4D, however I know the same can be done in Blender with a little more work. We just need to get people to post tutorials that are well explained and such.

Anywho, great job on the renders and would like to chat sometime regarding Blender and 3D rendering. Drop me an email and we'll do lunch.

Thank you for your comments, As you said, its nice to see more people working with blender. I have already taken a look into your gallery, some of your works are a little dark, but they are fine too.

Because of the distance the lunch will have to be a virtual one. I'll write you later.

Thank you for the kind words. The lunch thing was a joke (kind of in the way of have your people call my people (too many hours at the computer)). Anyway, i'm looking forward to hearing from you and hope you have a great day.

That salamander looks radioactive. Great work, though - undoubtedly better than anything I could ever do if I got my hands on that sort of program.
