What is Racism? Racism means attitudes, practices and other factors that disadvantage people because of their race, color or ethnicity. Racism can be directed against any race, color or ethnicity.Some examples of racism are obvious, such as graffiti, intimidation or physical violence. Racial and ethnic slurs and "jokes" are other examples. Unfortunately, they are often ignored because people do not know how to deal with them.
Other forms of racism are not obvious, such as discrimination in hiring and apartment rentals, or policies that disadvantage members of certain races, whether intentionally or not.
Racism exists at three main levels: individual, institutional and cultural.

What can I do to stop racism?
First of all, speak out against racism. Otherwise, your silence may be interpreted as tacit approval of discrimination. You have the right, as well as the responsibility, to speak out.

i like it when you said "any race", where I live there are a majority of both caucasians and african americans, and caucasians here are often denied employments or rights, while african americans are hired even if tey do not possess the skills to correctly handle the job, and if they are in the wrong it is over looked and the Caucasians pay for it in the end...you're right, any race can be discriminated against...not just one...it happens, just like in my example. Some have argued that they are just reaping what they sowed but no one should be discriminated agianst, Caucasians, Muslims, african americans, asians...no one, it's wrong no matter WHO does it! Racism is NEVER justified!

I think the media also adds to the fire with the "only whites are racist" act. You don't hear about black on white crimes, but if it's white on black it's an UPROAR! Media's race bait also needs to be addressed and stopped.
I think people should think for themselves and let nature take its course.
I'm black and trust me, there a some bigots in my people! Not all, but they're there. Man, they make me be ashamed to be black. That's why I don't support the Black Panther Party nor Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

I agree to that, the media really isn't very good for society as a whole. It's not even the race thing, it's many other things. I really agree that people need to think more on their own, whether society or others agree to it or not.
I'm more against idiots, and by that I mean people who obviously lack in common sense or basic intelligence. I've spoken to enough people, both white and black, and for some reason I'm forced to stop every other word to explain what one longer/bigger word means. So I end up culling my wide range of vocabulary so that I'm not forced to explain things to people. I had a couple friends, much older than myself, stop me on enough occasions and ask me "what does that word mean?". I don't mind explaining, but most people follow the explanation up with "You talk funny/weird". Which then only pisses me off.
I don't mind someone asking to learn something, but when you follow the question with an insult, then it becomes clear that they needed a gateway to the insult for it to make any logical sense. Okay I ranted a bit, but yes I do agree with you, there are idiots no matter the race.

Definitely. Media often does more harm than good and exaggerates. Having your own mind is wonderful and I wish more people would realize that.
I'm against idiots as well. You know, people often hate or insult what they don't understand. It's the only thing they come up with to compensate for their ignorance.
Ignorance is a sad, but powerful thing.
