Description

This is the second batch of my designs Wacky Races (los autos locos) a famous series of the 60s. This was a very original series for its time, with many colorful characters, funny cars and an archetypal villain as the main character Dick Dastardly (Pierre Nodoyuna), a real loser and unlucky guy with a terrible tendency to exaggerated traps (but the label of "cheater" is today quite unfair, after all, the race was characterized by "everything was worth to win" and many competitors were just as "cheats" to him). There have been remakes and attempts to revive the series "Wacky Races Forever" and "Fender Bender 500" (curiously, Dick won a race in this show) but these products never jelled in the love the public

I have to refer to the characters by the original name, usa names, and I will not use the names of the Spanish version (Lucas, el oso Miedoso and el profesor Locovitch, besides, I do not remember the Spanish names of Daisy and Sooey the pig)

I have not wanted to stray far from the original design of Professor Pat Pending because really, I've always liked this character and his vehicle, the Convert-a-Car. Pat was the classic science something crazy and distant, a guy who lived in his own world, sympathetic and very little aggressive compared to other competitors. His car was one of the best in the series, and I wanted to change the design of the "Convert-a-Car" to make a look bigger and more spectacular (now almost has the size of a great ship).

Luke, the hick town man, was similar to Pat for his tranquility (a driver with the trend of using the feet, and not the hands, with the steering wheel while he was half asleep) was rarely aggressive, but certainly he had a very dangerous way of driving (his pet, Blubber bear, suffered the consequences) II've drawn he with a more elderly, try to have more personality, but respecting the original idea

The biggest change is the addition of a character from another series of Hanna Barbera like the partner of Luke, Daisy Mayhem. She and Sooey are not Wacky Races characters, They were characters from the show "Laff-A-Lympics". But Penelope was the only female character in the classic show and she needed her counterpart (after all, Dick has his opponent in Peter Perfect) I thought that Penelope needed something similar, a rival on the road (and possibly in the care of Peter). While I thought that was a bit silly to invent a new character when I can use a forgotten female character.

Daisy Mayhem is totally different from Penelope Pitstop, although both are equally beautiful: I tried all that appears in the design. Penelope is rich and refined, Daisy is a "Hillbilly". Penelope is blond and fair-skinned, Daisy is brown and dark skin... But that does not mean that Daisy is ugly, on the contrary, is a beauty in her style.

I'm in love with my design of Sooey, the Pig of Daisy Mayhem: Now, I think he is world's most lovable pig, although he is very different to the original design (the world's ugliest pig).

Esta es la segunda tanda de mis diseños de Wacky Races (los autos locos), una serie famosa de los años 60. Esta fue una serie muy original para su época, con muchos personajes carismáticos, coches divertidos y con un villano arquetípico como personaje principal, Pierre Nodoyuna AKA Dick Dastardly, un autentico perdedor y poco afortunado tipo con una terrible tendencia a las trampas exageradas (pero el calificativo de “tramposo” es hoy en día bastante injusto, después de todo, la competición se caracterizaba porque “todo era valido para ganar” y muchos competidores eran igual de “tramposos” que él). Han existido remakes e intentos por resucitar la serie “Wacky Races Forever” y “Fender Bender 500” (curiosamente, Dick ganó una carrera en este show) pero estos productos no cuajaron nunca en el amor del publico

Voy ha referirme a los personajes por su nombre original, los nombres estadounidenses, y no voy a utilizar los nombres de la versión castellana (Lucas el granjero, el Oso Miedoso y el profesor Locovitch, además, yo no recuerdo los nombres castellanos de Daisy y Sooey)

Yo no he querido alejarme mucho del diseño original de profesor Pat Pending porque realmente, siempre me ha gustado este personaje y su vehículo Convert-a-Car. Pat era el clásico científico algo chiflado y distante, un tipo que vivía en su propio mundo, simpático y muy poco agresivo en comparación con otros corredores. Su vehículo era uno de los mejores de la serie, y he querido cambiar el diseño del “Convert-a-Car” para que parezca más grande y espectacular (ahora casi tiene el tamaño de un gran barco).

Luke, el paleto de pueblo, era similar al professor Pat por su tranquilidad (era un conductor que tiende a conducir usando los pies mientras permanece medio dormido) rara vez era agresivo, pero sin duda él tenía una manera de conducir muy peligrosa (su mascota, el oso Blubber, sufría las consecuencias) He envejecido un poco al personaje de Luke, intentar que tenga más personalidad, pero respetando la idea original

El cambio más grande es la incorporación de un personaje de otra serie de Hanna Barbera como copiloto de Luke, Daisy Mayhem. Ella y Sooey no son personajes de Wacky Races, eran personajes del show “Laff-A-Lympics”. Pero Penélope era el único personaje femenino de la serie clásica y ella necesitaba su contraparte (después de todo, Dick tiene a su contrario en Peter Perfect) y yo pensé que Penélope necesitaba algo similar, una rival en la carretera (y posiblemente en las atenciones de Peter). Si bien, yo pensé que era un poco tonto inventar un nuevo personaje cuando yo podía a reciclar un personaje femenino olvidado.

Daisy Mayhem es totalmente diferente a Penélope Pitstop, aunque es tan hermosa como ella: He intentado que todo eso aparezca en el diseño. Penelope es rica y refinada, Daisy es una “Hillbilly”. Penélope es rubia y de piel blanca, Daisy es morena y pecosa... Pero eso no quiere decir que Daisy sea fea, todo lo contrario, es una belleza en su estilo.

Estoy enamorada de mi diseño de Sooey, el cerdito de Daisy Mayhem: Ahora, creo que él es cerdito más adorable del mundo, aunque es muy diferente al diseño original (el cerdo más feo del mundo).
