Garnet (me) VS Sora (~5aXoR )
/Update (8/12/12): I forgot to add something that I wanted to add, but when I came back to look at this, I didn't like it at all D: So I redid some stuff, the lighting especially, then added stuff to the ground cuz it looked kinda plain. I think it looks a bit better now... ovo /
Ahhh I work so slowly, almost couldn't make it if not for the extension
I changed the sketch for this 3 times, I think. Couldn't find a composition that I liked.
Yet another unfamiliar character to me. Sora's hair was kinda hard to draw, since I wasn't sure if I should draw his hair the rock-hard-gravity-defying way or the normal way |D; I think it turned out in between...
The arena this time is Thunder Plains! With Ramuh contributing to the lightning too ovo Thunderstorm was my choice of weather condition ovob
I used stuff I learned from various tutorials for the whole background
The background took the longest to do.I wanted to draw Ramuh bigger, and maybe more in the foreground, but then it would become too crowded =/
Apparently, when Garnet summons, there'll be these green lights and small red lights, so I added it in, to make the staff not look so bare. ouo I added the cactuar stone in for fun too >v< I loved the little cactuar ghost that followed you around in FFX's Thunder Plains~
Anyway, Garnet was knocked down, but Ramuh's here to help her! Can Sora strike quicker than lightning?
I hope I stand a chance of making it into the next round! >.< And long comment is long X:

Yeah, I read the manga and never finished the video game, but at least there is Vivi! Reportedly he's in there because he has such a huge fan following but Nomura didn't want to include more Amano characters because they're not his own and didn't want to do them wrong :/ but I did write a KH crack fic where Cloud and Vincent and a (female) OC from Final Fantasy 7 are on a mission in some villain's abandoned stronghold and Zidane shows up...and let's just say hilarity ensues

Are you kidding me? Have you even played FF9? Though Sora may be fast, Garnet has many spells, summons and healing powers. Also you can't hurt a queen without making enemies. Sora must had started this battle because Garnet is too nice to start anything. I'm not predicting the winner of this battle because I believe they're perfectly matched. Heck, maybe they'll knock eachother out that they'll just call it truce and become friends.

Oh wow I totally found this by accident XD Very awesome! Would definitely root for Garnet over Sora here and I know for a fact she could win this given her previous opponents and fleshed out summons. I've never heard of this DissidiaAces thing... but looking into all the awesome artwork, I think I might want in on it at some point. >_< Again awesome work

well sora got lot more than her like this heΒ have mystical spells, the ability to turn into four different forms, each more powerful than the last, an unbreakable weapon, the power to summon incredibly powerful creatures, can survive in space without help, can cut through entire BUILDINGS with a single swipe, can jump incredibly high, double jump, glide at amazing speeds, dash so fast that I blur out of existance, can and have killed creatures of megolithic proportions, saved the universe more times than I can count, and apparently nothing can kill me.

Aww...I feel bad for Garnet here since she's on the ground like that. I hate to choose between Sora and Garnet, but...I guess I'd have to root for Garnet. One reason being, she's a girl. Anytime it's male vs. female, I usually root for the female.
It's just the way I think.

It's a vicious double standard. You rarely see a guy able to prove his competence in battle (or real life for that matter) when it's against a girl. Guys can't catch a break. If they do actually gain the upper hand they're made out to be a jerkass for outsmarting or outperforming the opposite gender. Damned if you do...

Well, maybe it's just the way I was raised. You know, the whole "don't hit a girl" thing and all of that. Unless she's an absolute bitch or so, I hate to see a girl hurt in any way.
I do agree though. I haven't ever experienced a moment (granted, all have been on tv and films) where a guy has outperformed a female and not gotten backlash for it - whether by the other characters, or from the people watching.

If you're interested, I can provide a link to Tv Tropes that gives a few examples of the Double Standard on both sides of gender. Know, however, that I'm only doing this because I find it interesting to see different examples of it and to sharemy findings with others, not to start a flame war.
In Layman's Terms, it's more "Aha! I see what this means!" rather than "AGASPLAGHA WOMEN SUCK."

Lord knows we need a character that deviates from this style.
Really, I was raised not to fight anyone without an extremely good reason. I only spar with my friends (some of which are girls) and only fought for real against three people. Two of them were girls. Of course they didn't pull the whole "You shouldn't hit a woman! Weeeeeehhhhhh!" act on me because they knew if you came to know me that you want to be treated as an equal. It doesn't matter if you're Male, Female, White, Black, Asian, Mexican, British, Japanese, Canadian, e.t.c...you get the same treatment that everyone else does regardless of who you are. I don't pull punches or mince words for anyone; That would be a disservice to them after all.

well, I guess it's because I don't get into fights, so I can't really relate. Though, I do agree with the whole "equal treatment" thing. Unfortunately, society tends to bend and mold things to fit their standards, thus the whole "gender war" and whatnot.Β

That is a very hard perspective to do. Well done on it! The only thing that looks a little off is Sora's left leg. It just looks a bit like he broke his ankle because of the way it's twisted, and the forshortening wouldn't be so extreme at that distance (weird fact, the farther away something is, the less obvious the foreshortening should be, and that's the one thing I found worth learning in an entire BOOK on perspective). The lightning effects are spectacular and that little cactuar in the corner is such a cute little add on too!

It is hard Dx I changed things so many times I almost gave up on changing them. Good that it turned out fine! >v< Yeah I wasn't really sure what to do with his left leg, changed it a lot too. Gotta read up and practise more!
