I saw you and my day brightened
So I ran up to give you a hug
Andd smiled, sitting next to you
Just for a little while
Because it had been so many days
Since we last parted.
But strange sentences were coming
From your mouth to my ears.
Causing an estrangement
Never known to us before.
Like a happy puppy I smile
And nod my head in agreement
To everything and anything you say
Not hearing a single word.
It couldn't have been meant to hurt;
I'm sure there was no malice...
But the cold stare;
So cold it burnt through me-
I know the message came through clear
Morning to night the day I saw you
