"I don't wanna be here anymore...

I don't wanna be here anymore.

I know there's nothing left worth staying for.

Your paradise is something I've endured.

See, I don't think I can fight this anymore.

I'm listening with one foot out the door.

Something has to die to be reborn, and

I don't wanna be here anymore."

- "I Don't Want to be Here Anymore" by Rise Against

CURRENT INVENTORY: Golem's Eye

PARADISE RISING SUMMARY:

PRE-TRIALS:  Pyre makes friends with Pine and witnesses Souta's assault on Paradise Valley - including Rook's breath-stealing trick that finally subdues him.

TRIAL ONE:  Their distaste for the Legendaries grows when Aedwyn forces them to drink after just a moment's hesitation during the potion challenge.  After the King Crow attempts to claw their eyes out, they discover their explosive wind and self-healing powers.  Their sharp wit helps with the first two challenges.  During the last challenge, they accidentally help to start a forest fire, and make enemies with Arcadia.  During the finale they leap into battle, eager to use their newfound power to kill monsters and maybe even gods.  They rescue Saga and Marauder and try to flee when Helena kidnaps them.

INTERIM ONE: Py dreamed of their family, of Sage fully grown.  They chatted with Marauder about their distaste for the Legendaries, and learned that other cats feel the same way.  They practiced their powers with Pine and in Shiloh's fight ring.  They also practiced alone, attempting to (non-fatally) suffocate birds, but wound up killing them all.  Ashamed, they delivered the bodies to their friends and the Sun Clearing so that they were not wasted.  REVEALED IN TRIAL TWO: they named Pine when Helena asked them to guess their partner because they knew no other cat and wanted her to shut up.  They did not take well to rooting with him.  They told him to respect their privacy and not impede their journey home.

TRIAL TWO:  Py struggled once more to work with their teammates, torn between ensuring their own survival and living by Pine's example and caring for their teammates as siblings.  The soul partners were often in conflict and changed moods seemingly on a dime as they received input from each other.  This helped Pyre cross the chasm, but hindered them when Pine's panic attack happened during the sabotage game.  Then Pine was sent to sabotage Pyre's team.  Pyre was frustrated that Pine would ask Pyre to give up their stone and risk their life for strangers when he knew that their brother awaited their return.  However, they were interrupted by Orin, who tried to "defend" Pyre from their partner.  They turned on their team to rescue Pine and, isolated, faced the kill challenge alone.  Their uncle Dune, come to find Pyre for Thorn, was among the enemy team.  Pyre immediately resigned to leave him on Helena's world and killed the first cat they could get their claws on.  They hoped that he might have a chance to escape or be rescued later.  These hopes were destroyed when Helena killed the enemy team with the Red Death and Dune attacked Pyre until the portal took them back to Earth.

INTERIM TWO: Tried and failed to heal Nitro to assist Pine.  Asked Mar to read his memories for them, and was told they should try talking to him instead.  They proved pretty bad at that.  They also attempted to apologize to Greyson and told Arcadia to leave Pine alone.

TRIAL THREE: Started seeing more ghosts!  Went to the carnival, the museum, the old steel mill, the ballroom, and the subway tunnels.  Being connected to Pine continued to bring up trauma from their past, and their response was to attack him on night 5.  They backed out of killing him out of fear of what that would feel like given their link.  They tried to stop Pine from killing at Helena's command and failed.

INTERIM THREE: Took Mar's side against Murmim when he attacked the black soul and accused them of being a god in disguise.  Argued to have Pine imprisoned and, once the interim ended, eventually exiled.  Used a dreamwalker to update Thorn and carry messages for other Plains Colony cats.  Bonded with Fleet over Mommy Issues and hatred for gods.  Eventually fought with Pine about what happened in Trial 3 and Pine's subsequent sentencing.  After lots of shouting and low personal jabs, they realize that it is their rejection that drove Pine to kill for Helena, and that their frustration with Pine ignoring them altogether (they asked for privacy, not to be ignored, after all) has gone too far.  They agree that they should try to salvage their relationship for their collective sanity, but have no idea where to start.  At the end of the Interim, they learned to fly, but didn't get much time to practice before...

TRIAL FOUR: Pyre bonded with Pine over the Trial, as the two were forced to relive their most painful memories together.  They helped lay Arrow to rest in the pvp event and lost their voice to Melchior's poison.  On the peak, they saw their love interest Fleet fall to the plague, and spent their last moments making a desperate and useless (thanks, Kaulu) attack on Helena, leaving the near-stranger Ignite to deliver the sad news to Thorn.

INTERIM FOUR: Pyre spent most of their time searching the pool for their brother.  Pine and Fleet would sometimes take their shift by the water so they could step aside and work on learning sign, as their voice has not returned.  They aligned with Douglas, a blue soul they met during the pvp event last Trial, in an attempt to heal their throat - while the scars give them less pain now, they still can only speak in small bursts and prefer not to at all.

UPDATE 5/29: Pyrite has been confirmed to be a green soul!  Also I removed the palette on the right b/c there's really not a need for it, since they've got no shading.
UPDATE 8/16: Added their Trial 1 scars, portrait, pre-trials and Trial 1 summary, and cleaned up the main image.
UPDATE 11/1: Added Interim 1 summary.
UPDATE 3/30: Fixed ear markings on face, added Trial 2 scar and summary.
UPDATE 8/22: Added skill point and a monocle they're incorrectly wearing as a tail ring from Trial 3 quests.
UPDATE 7/23/21: Removed accessories from the image.  Added scars from a coyote on Trial 3's final night.  Added two skill points from coins - one from the Steel Mill quest, one a gift from Mar.
UPDATE 8/8/2021: Updated link to a new copy of their bio, added Interim Two, Trial Three, and Interim Three updates.
UPDATE 8/26/2022: Changes to reflect soulrooting.  Added 2 stat points (both to speed), soul shade, Trial/Interim 4 summaries, and changed ref details to match the Spruce shade.
